This new law does not criminalize online poker playing. And furthermore since Bush signed the bill into law there is 270 days time left for them to come up with the regulations to enforce the law.Originally Posted by Dean

So basically there is a stay of execution for those of us who couldn't go a day without our online games?
And who knows, this might all just fall to the wayside after the election.
I'm starting to think the same thing, but mainly because I can play without worrying who's going to stand us up and there isn't the whole "personal" aspect.
There's nothing like a live game, you get to chat up your friends and you dont have to type out what you are saying. But then again, you may be playing with some strangers in a live game and wish not to say anything to them. So with strangers online and with friends live. That is my preference.
I would have to say that I prefer playing online. I can sit in the comfort of my own home, and I can play at whatever time I choose. and of course if I want to sit in my pajamas and play I canI like not having to leave the house to play.
There was an online site (the key word "was"), that was going to try and get a poker site going with the miniature cameras on your desktop, so you could see your opponents... I don't even want to think of what you might see...
It's bad enough the "mouths" that are online. Anyone that has played live will know these people wouldn't last to make it to their parked cars if the behaved the same way live.
I prefer live gaming. I think that online gaming takes the personal element out of the game and thus takes a lot away from the game overall. When playing online it is so much harder to pick up on bluffs and tells which is something that I love being able to pick up on with my oponents.
i have been really happy with playing online, I dont have to go out in bad weather to play, I can play anytime I choose and I dont have to worry about what time it is, online is so convenient that I am really liking it.
I like to play online, but also enjoy getting together with friends and playing. Playing online can be more convenient and I can also play anytime of the day. I play online about twice a week or so.
I prefer Live games. Online is a great substitute though!
Definitely Live, I like being able to look for tells talk and laugh!
I like the game played live. I want to get a better handle on my opponents.
i agree 100%. i like the fact that i can come and go as i please, play only when i feel like it, and quit when i want to -with no hard feelings like some of the house games. i'm new w/ rackback so if you have any advice please feel free to chat.
sincerely, jeff
can someone explain to me how all this works-- (in brief)

I have never really had the chance to enjoy online games that much. So I like to play live rather then online.
Personally I prefer to play live, whether its big stakes in a casino or small stakes at home games. Online play to me is a numbers game crunching pot odds and such, watching out for betting patterns and sitting back for huge hands and cashing in. Live games is more theatrical and you can get a bit creative with your play and change it up. I find it much harder to bluff online with so many people overcalling marginal hands. Picking up on tells is where its at live and the aspect of the game that I enjoy the most.
Live. It is so much more exiting
