This is a statement MOST players make if they really don't understand limit poker as they think they may. Please don't think I am down grading your ablity in poker by any means. All I am saying is that limit poker is about limit poker. Profound statment I know! But it's true! Think about it a sec... In limit poker you know exactly how much you stand to lose if you decide to draw and you can't lose no more. Pretty cool when you think about it. But with that comes many more factors to think about. The first rule of thumb after limit poker is limit poker is not many bluffs in limit. You either got the nuts or you don't bet. And with that when you got a pair or believe you got the buts make 'em pay to draw and if they draw out on you so be it. But dont bet with out something in other words.
Wish you had posted some example HH's for this statement. If you ever do I can take a look at 'em if you like. Hope this was of some help.
I love limit poker and once you get good at limit poker you'll be surprized at how much better you NLHE game gets.
Good luck at the tables
Maybe your just running bad, all poker sucks when your getting outdrawn, but the key is managing your bankroll so that you only lose a small percentage a session. There is no doubt that you have had a winning limit poker session, right?
im not fold of limit hold em em but i dont mind it in omaha h/l

Yes I know exactly what you mean. I personally don't care for Limit either. Every time I played a tournament that was Limit, it would just be the whole table pretty much raising constantly to the max on each oppurtunity and a lot of times some ridiculous garbage hand would bust someone's high pocket pair. In NL and even PL Hold Em, big raises around the table preflop usually prevent such suckouts unless the person is a total donk that will play anything and even if you do get sucked out it is by a decent opposing hand for the most part. A big key to winning with a big hand is to have just one or 2 people see the flop with you. In limit, unless you're on a table with all good players (which I have yet to see online at least), this is not possible. Maybe at high limits this might happen but definitely not the lower ones.
Limit hold 'em is just so much different than NL. People do suck out a lot more, because of the structure of the bets. Most of the time, you just get the right pot odds to draw, and protecting your hand is a extremely difficult, if not nearly impossible. I did play limit hold 'em for about a year, before I switched to NL, simply because I found limit poker to be somewhat boring, and I do a lot better in NL.
i like limit holdem alot, like the first guy said, you need to understand the game in order to appreciate it. but if I had to choose between limit and nl then it would be nl because i find limit a little boring. it has alot repeating parts to the game.
If you want to play good limit holdem don't play it in a freeroll cause you will get that problem![]()
limit is a drawing game , people will call you no matter what , besides is it really nothing if they have a great draw with 17 outs or is it actually a case of them hitting a one outer ? that's nothing lol , but there is money to be made in limit from all the chasers , especially if you are in a tourney or sit n go game , it's only cheap for them to chase like that early but later on when the blinds are high they'll still be chasing because that's the only way they know how to play and that's where you can make money by playing tight with good hands with good draws ,gl
I recommend to play the minimum limits of FL100 or more. The sensible games are starting from that point upwards. Players fold PF and in any given hand, specially if the pot is raised PF, there are a maximum of 3 players to see the flop usually.
The game itself is the basics of good poker. If u master this, and only after u master this, u can start with NL version of holdem. Unless u are a natural to the game, which only a few players are..
The limit version of Omaha is still unmastered by me, but I'm going to start on that as soon as possible, as it seems to be filled with idiots calling with any hand they get. If u keep your hand range to only the premium ones, I'd imagine u'd win a great deal of money in this game.
i'll completely back that up Arkhos, the O8 limit games at $2/$4 are super-juicy, well worth checking out.
lol yep omaha is where it's at and 08 even more so lol
