Its a cooler. I would of called. He really can't do nothing about it, but bite the bullet;however, the biggest pot now is between Brunson and someone. it was a 998,000 pot which Doyle won with A/10.
Yes
No

Online, it is an instacall especially at lower stakes. You just don't know if someone is pushing with the straight thinking you have A5 or something. As for this situation in High Stakes Poker against someone the caliber of Gus Hansen (even though I voted I would call), Daniel pretty much told himself he was beat and called anyways. Gus isn't stupid enough to push with a straight there, so you have to think he has at least a better boat. However, no matter what, it would be very, very difficult to lay down. Since it's live poker though, he had a great deal of time to think about it which is a lot different than online.
As for sledracer01 comparing his laydown of AA on an AKQ board with three people pushing before him (although still difficult to lay down), it's way different. Daniel has a full boat while you're folding just a set with an obvious straight on the board. Plus, it's just the flop and Daniel's made it to the river. I don't know how the betting took place preflop, but you and the guy with KK should have gotten everyone else out and then went heads up.
A closer example happened to me the other night. I had AA flop comes AQx. We're betting the flop and turn (don't remember exactly how). Then the river is a Q. I bet with aces full and he pushes. I'm thinking he called me down with a Q and thinks he got lucky or he has AQ. Of course before I call I say to myself, "Does he have Queens?". The call wasn't much more than I already had bet so there's is no way I'm folding here. If he hit the one outer then he hit it, but the money says to call. It's definitely bad poker to fold here. You'll lose out on a lot of great pots if you fold in this situation since it is very rare that it occurs. Oh yeah, he had Queens.
Anyone that said no is nuts, every one makes that call as seen by one of the best. And take a lesson on how to set the TRAP.....![]()
Ill bluff my way to a win with AA!!!
I haven't watched HSP in a while, but if the hand you're talking about is the Negreanu vs. Hansen boat vs. quads, then there is no doubt, it's a just pay off hand

I still want someone to name the hand that makes that bet that daniel has beat. ONLY THING HE COULD BEAT WAS A BLUFF. woulda put gus on 88 there. muck em. Everyone overlooking the actual hand and how it was played. You guys dont play high stakes poker live obviously, no wonder.
Hell of a hand for Gus!!! I think both players played the hand right and when the re-raise came from Gus, and the amount already invested by both players, i would have made the call. Not like either player can't afford it.
i fold it. as previous posters have possted there is next to no hands that Daniel actualy will beat. i will name 1 and that is 78 flopping nuts straight but Gus even though "nuts" as people call him is still insanely good at making the reads. ofc. you can vote that daniel is beating aces and stuff like that but come on. personaly i would put gus on the 9s after the playing and check the river for safety sake, especialy because any hand that daniel is actualy beating will not call anyway. so conclusion i fod muck em face up and get on with my life.
That was unreal ! I was never a big fan of Negranu. But the way he handled that was amazing.
oh heres the King of poker, when u play the player u tend to make a more selective play, i have watched that hand many times i saw it the first time it aired and then i have seen it on you tube at least 15 more times.
daniel is one of the greatest but he can slip off the high mountain sometimes, do you recall the hand that knocked him out of the main event?
he called is tourney life on A-8 vs 8-8 with 8 on the board, bad read against a player he had plenty of info on.
im glad to know your that good, i mean daniel, gus, doyle all have their own web sites.....where the PLUCK is yours?
You're incorrect on the largest pot. The one you're thinking of had D. brunson and Benyamine in it. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the largest to have been created to date on High Stakes Poker was between Guy Laliberte and and David Benyamine.
They built a pot worth about 1.2 million. Laliberte was made (two pair), but Benyamine had a strong draw. They ended up getting it on in. Then Guy decided to call it off before the dealer put out any more cards and made a deal with Benyamine to take the pot as it was before the last two big bets.
Laliberte was playing for chairty anyway and Benyamine was behind, so it was all good.
Hrm... and of course, it's on Youtube. Here's the link:

To the topic: Yes. No way he could fold that now, even that there is a danger of a higher FH or even those quads, although the allin check-raise was something that would make me think about folding at that stage..
On the latest video there, it's technically the biggest pot but it wasn't even close to that in the end as a 'charity' deal is reached.
How can you ask this question? obviously we can see the cards so decision is easy,
I think, if u look at the poll rates, u find that most players would have called in Negreanu's seat. And this means that even though we see the cards, most still think he did as any of us would have done, called the reraise.
not going to call becasue i donot have anywhere near that much money
It's funny to see this video after the UltimateBet freeroll I played in last night...
The hand I was in played out almost exactly the same way...
I had 6s full of 9s on the flop. 66 in the hole, 6 9 9 8 on the board by the turn....heads up.....
I raised and the other player had been smooth calling all the while (likely because he had me well covered). At this point I had him put on A9, or a possible straight or draw.
Suddenly the river comes off ....it's an 8.... I bet and the other player goes all in....
I saw this huge move as a tell because he pushed very quickly, having only smooth called up to this point...so I was pretty sure he liked his hand...but what was it? A9? 99? 98? 96? 88? Could he be trying to bully with AA or KK? Did he think a straight was the best hand? Hmm...what was he doing...?
After thinking a moment on all the possible scenarios, I laid down my hand (with a show).
The other player showed 88...the nuts...
So, in a situation like this were there is a possibility of a higher full house on the board, let alone a possibility of 4 of a kind, I think it should be fairly easy to weigh the circumstances and fold.
Because of smart play (and just a little luck) I managed to place 18th out of 5001 players.![]()
I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

very good lay down. Takes lots of hours at the table to make a laydown like that, but once you do it once. It gets easier and easier
It all works out in the end!!
all these ppl talking about they could make that fold, u could play the hand over in your head as much as you like even if it was top set 99 almost anyone else would make the call in that spot its not as much as even pot commited its cany set the action he re-raised pre, he bet after a check to him and just called looking to make more on the river he could have raised the turn that would give the info needed to make the fod there unless he was looking for a 6.
the bottom line is we might all not play the hand the same rom the start but the question is would we make the river call and the stats are lies almost everyone would make the call on river becuase if we do play poker we do know that if our oppent had a made hand thats strong either he has it at the turn and wants to get oayed off on river or does not want to see a river an get 2 outed on river by letting a card come cheap.
