How many of you listen to music while playing online poker? I know for some people they prefer to not have any distractions, but for me personally I rather have on some music and play.

No distrations for me. I usually multitable and keep the poker client sounds on, so that I can better keep track on when cards are dealt and when is my turn.
I know that you should not play when tired, but sometimes the turn alarm has woken me up when I have drowsed off.
It kind of depends on the music. Some soft background noise is not too bad, but anything harsh or loud will tend to get me off focus. If I can't focu, I can't win.
I have a little soft concert style music that I like to have on as a little distraction to keep me from getting tunnel visioned. A little distraction can be good for me.
I always listen to music when I am online playing, it is the only way for me to block everything else that is going on in my house around me out. I have been listening to a lot of the Killers, Panic at the Disco, and Hinder. They are all great music that make you just want to get up and go.
I'm a little weird, but I can only listen to music when playing online if I have headphones on. It's a distraction if its over the speakers, but the headphones help me zone in I guess.
I am almost the same way. If I am just relaxing and chatting with some friends or just looking around on some site I can play on my speakers. But if I am trying to write a paper, doing research or playing poker I have to have headphones. It kind of helps you focus a bit more almost.Originally Posted by tshaner
I like to listen to some heavy metal music on my Ipod. anything like megadeth, Iron maiden or dream theater. I have been listening to symphony x more lately though. They are a symphonic band. The orchestra and fast licks really get me competitive. anyone else do the same or similar?
I don't like distractions either, however easy listening music or instrumental jazz away in the background is sometimes necessary for relaxation.Originally Posted by mollila
Try guys some good soul music. Erykah Badu works for me, even when steaming and tilting her beautiful voice calms me down. Haven't listened music before when playing but I will continue search of optimal playing environment and so far it seems that right music could be the thing for me. Gonna try some easy jazz next..

Actually, I do the opposite. I want calming sounds. It helps, especially after some idiot caps the turn (limit) to a gut shot str8, i have a set... and he makes the damn thing.
I feel soothing music keeps me from getting too into a lost pot. Sit back, relax during the next hand, and THEN punish the mother........ oops, this might get censored...
