AA Raise or slowly play??AA Raise or slowly play??

With AA I always raise before the flop but I recently read a site where they say you should slow play in order to get as many people in as possible. My experience is that if more then five players call before the flop I usually need the set to come out a winner. That’s why I keep on raising before the flop. What's your opinion?

haha slow play AA. thats just silly, id love to see where that's posted. raise of course. you dont want a multi way pot with AA, its alot better to push players out thus increasing your % to win the hand.....

I'd take AA over J10s every time.
J10s more options, Yea right more options,more options to be sucked in going for the straight /flush & end up with 4 out of 5 & get beaten by a pair of Q's,K's or A's.
At least with AA you know your in front before the flop & can play them accordingly

I will bet any amount against any player any time. You can have 10-J suited and I will take AA every hand. We will play for just 3-4 hours. Wait, the suited hand would not last the first hour!

If you like to slow play the AA, as always, weigh the current situation, then make a decision, there are times to play them fast and others to play them slow.

If you do not want to consider the situation and must slow play for the thrill or to try to build a big pot, then slow play when the aces are the same color, that way you will only be slow playing 1/3 the time you have aces(6 ace combinations: 2 ways aces can be the same color, 4 ways different)

You like J-10, fine, sounds like you like to play the game, but you can not take the math out of the equasion, the math does not lie. Probability does not bend. Aces can and will be beat, but they will win more often in the long run than any other hand, period.

Poker is one life long game, not just a session or two.

Actually, I sometimes slowplay AA. If the table is full and I'm early, driving players out is good. But, if your in late position and only a couple of players have entered the game, take the chance and see if AA holds up. Caution, better not be more than 4 players (including yourself) or you are taking a big risk.
Problem with AA is any A freezes betting.

It's not a cut and dry decision on how to play AA. There are so many things that need to be taken into account. Position, The make up of the table, stack sizes, etc. There are times when the make up of the table dictates a limp, or a check jam all in. There are times when you need to bump it up 3 or 4 BBs.
If you want to keep it basic, just play it like you normally would any big pocket pair.

There are a lot of diferent moments. Is very diferrent play a AA when the tournament begin and you are in the first position of the table, or when you are in the final table with a huge bb in the last position of the table. Each situation requires a difertent strategy, call, raise, go all-in. is all about a good timing.

Last time I played AA preflop on jeux poker , it was entirely Dependant on the type of game. It would be very rare that I wouldn't raise AA preflop in limit holdem, regardless of the stake size. In upper limit games I raise with AA

For me AA has to be played fast with out many others in hand. takea small or large profit then be beat by a set of 2

I like to raise no matter the stakes But never put all my chips at risk unless there is a reraise, at that point you have to call or push all in and hope you dont get one of those. Its a Gamble no matter what you do.

it all depends on my position. if im first to act i will usually just call or raise minimum. but in a blind i raise. the amount depends on how many people have called the blinds

its taken a year but i dont use the strength of AA,KK AK etc.i find myself slow playing these monster pockets more & more and geting deeper & deeper even starting to hit the $$$ so slow play aint all bad at leasr not for me but hey different strokes..."what you talkin about willis"

Theres no way i would slow play A A. I always get beat with them even when i raise with it. And the hand that beats me is ridiculous, like 10 8 and 9 J.

I never seem to win with that hand, i always have to raise with AA and KK.

in my experience, like i read above, its better to raise pre-flop to force out sorry hands that might suck out. but every now and again slow playing them isn't a bad idea, just keep in mind that its riskybut if it works it pays off a whole lot more.

I Have Learned My Lesson The Hard Way Slow Playing AA.. I Have Been Rivered Watch The Flush Hit The Board Watch Someone Hit Their Set Hit Eheir Straight And Would Have To Fold When. I Alway With Out Question Will Raise Preflop And Where Between 4-6x Bb And If There Is Someone Who Is A Psycho Caller I'll Put Them All In Pre Flop Jsut To Keep Them Off My AA... I Rather Take Down A $50 Pot Than Loose A $5,000 Because I Didn't Raise Enough Preflop And Get Rivered Or Sucked In When They HIt Their Straight...

I dont think you should slow play all the time - it should probably work out to about 1/10 of the times you have a big pair. Save it for 1 of the following situations:

1. you are in early position AND are expecting to be raised if you limp in. Obviously this depends what kind of players are seated behind. If it is an action table it could be a good option.

2. you have been card dead and/or have not made a preflop raise for many hands against observant players and don't think they will give you action for your raise. This may be the best option say if you were in the small blind where everyone has folded, maybe you can get the big blind to raise you.

Once you've started the slow play, the REALLY intersesting question is when to reveal the strength of your hand. Personally i will reraise preflop 8 or 9 times of ten, particularly in tournaments i love taking down a reasonable pot without seeing the flop, this way your chance of being busted is zero. In cash games i think you should be a bit more creative but again i still reraise a lot of the time. I think check calling to the river in these sitjuations is quite a dodgy play.

Lol, having said all that i'm probably not the best person to advise HOW to slowplay as i will be raising and rearising 99% of the time.
