Ring Games and odds.

What are the best odds of winning in ring games. How does it work in comparison to other methods. I'm trying to decide what is more fun with online gambling.

Well i guess if you prefer to be your own boss, then ring games are the way to go. However many people find the tournaments more fun, but once youre out your'e out. All depends on your strength.

It could take you a loooong time to ever win a tournament. But when you do, it is rewarding and gives you a great feeling of satisfaction. Something that grinding and consistently winning smaller amount at ring games might not provide.

I am a really big fan of tournaments. I think that they are a lot more fun and there is a lot more excitement involved, but everyone has to find what works best for them and what they like best and go with it, what makes one happy doesnt make everyone happy. I would say just keep playing and find what you enjoy the most.

Good point.. however for me, the "grinding" is more rewarding and you can walk away with profits when you are up. Tournaments do offer bigger rewards, but you can't walk away when you're winning.

I was in a $5 multi table the other day. One hour into the tournament I was in first... sigh, we won't talk about the next hour... if that had been a ring game, I would have gotten some decent cash even though I might have given a bit back....

I'd say that playing multi-table tournaments is something you can't really do for a living unless you have huuuuuuge bankroll because the swings are so big. You might play a dozen and win nothing, and then win five digits in the next one. On the other hand, sit'n'go tournaments are pretty easy to play and "grind" a profit from as you can play several in one day and the variance goes down as there's only 10-20 players.

I play mostly cash games for money and sometimes relax playing couple of sng's .

One thing to consider if you have a bonus account pending is you don't get as much credit toward your bonus by playing tournaments. For example, I am playing at Absolute Poker right now and the way I understand their bonus structure is for every $1 paid to the house in tournament buy-ins you only get 1 point toward your bonus. So, even in 9 or 18 person tournaments it can take well over an hour to complete the tournament (assuming you're not one of the first few people eliminated).

On the other hand, in ring games for every hand you see a flop that rakes .50 or more you also earn 1 point. You can earn a lot more points in a shorter amount of time towards your bonus playing ring games than you can playing in tournaments.

Considering it takes 30 points to earn $5 in bonus money, it will take you a long, long time to earn your bonus. So, until you have earned your "free money" bonus I recommend playing more ring games than tournaments.

Cash players and tourney players differ. Even the pro's can't adapt from one to the other...at least it's seldom so.
