Default |:::Poll:::| WSOP or WPT?? Which do you prefer??

I have seen a LOT of people striving for the World Series of Poker...but not so many are chasing after the World Poker Tour...

I am curious to see, which would you prefer, if given the opportunity to play in one or the other and why??

Personally, I'd go for the World Poker Tour, just because I tend to see VERY large payouts, some much larger than the World Series of Poker, and you get the opportunity to play overseas and learn the different techniques around the world.
I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

A bit like Mike above me said, I prefer WSOP until the time that WPT arranges a fixed limit hold'em tournament.

There is much more history in the WSOP, and also, as of last year, there is a WSOP Europe, so there is a chance to play in a wider range of games in the US and Europe.

Yeah WPT gives watches rather than bracelets, but the good thing is you get a beer afterwards LMAO *kidding*

Although the WSOP has very nice commentary, I prefer WPT because the field is tougher and viewers get shown more interesting plays.

Given the choice of playing (on a freeroll of course), I'd play the WSOP. I think a WSOP bracelet would be cooler since it's a once a year event and everyone knows it. It's the Superbowl of poker. But no doubt winning a WPT tourney is a great accomplishment. They started giving bracelets as well I think. I really like Norman Chad too. He's very entertaining and funny. More than Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten. But I watch both whever I see they're on TV.

Yeah, that was dominant. Every table was a nightmare haha. Really fun to watch. Wouldn't it be nice to not care about the money whatsoever and willingly play against the absolute best players in the world just for competition's sake?

The commentary was always spot on, which is why never missed an episode. Norman Chad is a comedian, not a poker player. Mike Sexton is nit that says the obvious. Gabe Kaplan is probably the better of the other two, but even he's occasionally off as to why a hand goes down a certain way. And I want to shoot myself every time I hear the voice of PAD commentator, who also adds nothing new. I occasionally watch PokerStars tv on their website, and their commentators are also off on certain hands.

I dunno, maybe I liked the commentary b/c it was the most detailed and I was only something like 6 months into playing poker.

...and just to emphasize, I'm not saying I'm learning poker from the commentators. I'm saying it ticks me off when the commentators are off target / not doing their job.

I like the commentators in the Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge. They've only had a couple episodes, but they have a commentator who's actually really good at poker and an internet kid.

commentators is the one thing that make the show good or bad, for example look the differnce between HSP With the funny and good poker player gabe kaplan in compare to WSOP commentators who are just annoying, they seem to not understand the game,
also annoying is when commentators makes very amauter mistakes, for example AK vs AQ flop 963 turn 9 they say the only way he can "win" is to hit a queen, to remind us that if it comes 6/3 it will be tie they dont...

also commen is missing str8 options, flop K95 its AQ vs QJ they say only a J can save him, what about a 10? :S

Those are just dumb mistakes. What I was talking about when commentators says a player is doing something for one reason, but in reality there's another reason. Doesn't happen often.

btw, I "rewatched" some ppt on youtube after some years, turns out not that great. Maybe I liked the commentary b/c I was new at the time.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet...

WSOP because of the structure. You get to play poker, even on the final table.
