ive been telling my friends for years about the gum chewing tell. i especially remind them whenever i see them chewing before they sit down at a table to spit it out. however, i usually bring some gum with me to the table and offer a piece to everybody after i pop one in. however i spit it out within 5 minutes.

Phil Ivey by no means always chews gum. I saw him do it now and then in the past, but not very frequently. Haha I don't know about the tell, but I'd think that other pros would pick up on it before you, no offense. You'd think he'd lose more if he actually had a tell.

Everyone has a tell...at least one, if not more. Show me the man who has no tells and I'll show you a dead man.

This thread is very old, if you saw the date on it. Back then, the shows that were being aired on television at the time, he was always chewing gum in every episode. It's probably not relevant now, no, but when this was posted it most certainly was, and there were plenty of witnesses to laugh about it with me.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

i'm not sure if that counts as a tell. in the first example, he was strong. he hit a set. in the second example, he was weak with middle pair and a bad kicker. yet he chewed his gum the same in both instances. he could be aware that people think it's a tell. and uses it consciously to throw people off.

Wow, great story about Ivey...Its like his gum chewing crawls to a halt while he is contemplating his moves and how to extract the most chips...

    No hand...who gives a crappity smack.....chew away!!!
