Default Let's see what you would have done...

Irish is going on lifetilt for bad beat hands.

So I thought I would throw this in. See how you guys would have played this hand.

At this point. Let's just assume the table is semi-fresh & the hero is mixing it up a bit.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (6 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    BB (t1495)
    UTG (t1535)
    MP (t3465)
    Hero (t2925)
    Button (t5405)
    SB =#A500AF(Villian)/ (t6740)

Preflop: Hero is CO with , .
UTG calls t50, 1 fold, Hero calls t50, 1 fold, SB =#A500AF(Villian)/ completes, BB checks.

    Flop: (t200) , , (4 players)
Villian checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets t150, Villian calls t150, BB folds, UTG folds.

    Turn: (t500) (2 players)
Villian checks, Hero bets t200, Villian calls t200.

    River: (t900) (2 players)
Villian checks, Hero bets t650, Villian raises to t1300, ???.

    Current Pot: t2850

So now it's on you. What would you do, or how would you have played the hand differently???

    Default hmmmmmmm

First there was the option of folding this hand to start.

Second, sitting in the cutoff position at 6 topper, pre flop raise is option

Turn, 500 in pot, bet was only 200, other player is getting good pot odds (even if they have better flush, I think this bet was too small, the other player could have raised big a pot bet here and you could have put them on the bigger flush before investing more chips later)

River, you have 1050 invested, 650 more, almost comitted to play, you are now getting good pot odds

The river being a 10 mucks things a little, it makes you believe the other player could just have a straight.

Since you said the table was fresh, reads are not yet fully available, tough situation. Once you got the the river you had 1050 invested, tough to get away from with no good read. But if you were to fold to river raise you still would have over 1800 in chips when the blinds are only 25-50.

With the blinds where they were, I probably would have folded the hand to start. The decision at the end if I got there, probably would call the extra 650.

    Thanks.

Very good post by Vito. I probably would've nearly snap called the raise, given that the pot was big enough for the extra 650. If I was beaten, I would've just kicked myself thinking what the hell I was doing in that hand in the first place. Nevertheless, I probably would've played that hand myself.
Limit poker is a science, but no-limit is an art. In limit you are shooting at a target. In no-limit, the target comes alive and shoots back at you.

Shorthanded, in principle I avoid limping these hands with position, so I raise or fold this. As it was played, flop fine. On turn I'm betting closer to pot, say 400. On the river I bet 3/4 pot or so, whatever that would be at the time As presented, I reckon the river is a snapcall, you're getting roughly 4.4:1 to call here. By my calculations you need to be good here about 18% or so. I reckon he is gonna have a straight/2pr/set/lower flush(?) much more than 18% of the time, so this is insta-call territory for me

I agree....since you got yourself in this far with that hand, it is pretty much a snap call from this point.

Likelyhood is he is holding something like A7 or J7 for a straight, and probably thinks you either are going to split with the straight or that you have only a 7 and he has the higher straight, or he could just be taking a gamble that you don't have the flush, and maybe just top pair, so he feels his straight could be best.

Either way, by this point, the odds point in favor of the call.
I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

I have to agree not being in the pot in the first place was just a bad idea.

    Strong hands hard, right. lol.

Oh well. It took a lil hunting, but I thought it was an interesting educational hand. lmao

    Now for the grand finale.

Do ya wanna know what the villian or secret hero had in this hand?

    Secret Hero(Villian) Hole Cards: .

I found a few more hands. Ones where the hero either took it home or lost it bad. They're some interesting ones.

I should put the disclaimer that I am drawing from a db of few different people now. And to say that the styles vary is an understatement. lmao

Which BTW, is there any other programs that work with PT? For data manipulation, maybe a player simulator? Know it sounds wierd, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
