Default How many people here play live tournaments?

How many people here play in live tournaments? Are they large tournaments run by casinos or legal card rooms... or are they little private games run out of the eye of the law?

I have a weekly couple of private live tournaments I play in. It's a great game and so much more fun than playing online at times. So I was wondering how many people here play live?

It seems, to me, that live play is drying up in parts. I am much more likely to play online with friends than I am for them to all come out and play at someone's house.
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

I used to play once a month at the casino over the river.....usually about 800 to 1000 entrants.....have placed in the money 3 times out of 5 trips, so not too shabby. I haven't done it in a while tho since I sold my minivan, and don't trust TNL's Ford to make the trip LOL Believe me, her Ford lives up to the saying "Fixed Or Repaired Daily" hahaha

Yeah, it was all the talk about the PTOTW and being able to chat with each other that got me thinking about the live games I play. The big difference is how much talking and fun we have. I think if we have a place to chat live while we play (as well as having some people on the rail talking too) it would bring a little of the atmosphere from a live game to the weekly tournaments.

Poker is a social game as well and so many people who only play online are missing that aspect of it.

I totally agree, Frob, which is why I thought of using the private chat I have.....I rarely chat to anyone using the account at Meebo, so it would be good to finally put it to good use, while also helping my fellow poker buddies at the same time! I think it would be great for everyone to be able to comment on the game whether in or out. And by doing it in the chat, it won't be distracting to the ones who are playing.

    Default Here and there

I will play whenever and whereever possible. I mostly play online but hunt for the live tourneys as well.

Not to be paranoid, but I would be a little careful with advertising the outside chat feature, the cardroom may sniff out more than the innocent chat that is intended.......

    Thanks,

Honestly, I would rather play live. I play live at least once a week, but it is so easy to play online and for me its an hour drive to the nearest poker room.
It all works out in the end!!

    Thanks,
    Thanks Vito...

I understand your concern, Vito, but I'm not "advertising" anything really...I mean, everyone expressed that they wanted to be able to chat after they have gone out of the tourney, so I am just offering an option for that purpose and that purpose alone.

I would never step on Rakeback's toes, which is why this would ONLY be available for use by us while the PTOTW Tournament was being held.

As far as the card room sniffing it out, the Meebo client is not downloadable software, and my screen name is under a different name and email address than my poker software, so I don't think the card room would be able to detect it. Besides, I don't think anyone here would abuse the chat room with less than innocent chat. If they did, I could easily remove them from the room if needed.
