Any consistent winners ever have this problem?

I notice that when I STOP playing online for two weeks or more at a time, and then return, I tend to come in the money a high percentage of the time. I had a 30% in the money record (according to official ranking site) since March 25th (night) to yesterday early evening. I played approximately 100 to 120 mtt and single table sng.

Last night I played 6 games at a time and lost almost all of them (maybe 18 games total)

After I play about 80 to 100 mtt, I start losing the majority of the games (I hate to admit that). I might be an addict because I can't stop buying in!

Have any players out there who consistently win ever had this problem?

Would like to understand this because I've been going through this for Months!

it is very possible that after taking a few days break, your mind rests up and you are refreshed and are able to be more focused, being in a better mood seems to make you run better as well, when you are tired or burnt out you tend to play in worse spots and cant make the correct decisions that you need to.

Another thing is, when you take a break, you come back to Poker with a new YOU. not the mood, the personality. But everything is better! the other thing is, don't treat poker like a Job unless it is your primary source of income. That's the quickest way to burn yourself out completely!

Basically, take breaks after each tournament........ex: if you do 4 MTTs at the same time, as you get eliminated or win them, don't buy into anymore. after all 4 are done, go take a few hours to yourself. Watch TV, go out to eat.....GET AWAY from poker for a few hours. When you come back, you will feel better and if you feel better, you play better.

Ive had this same issue before too. I cant explain it cuz I cant make myself take enough breaks to really see the reasons for the changes. I too am addicted!!!!

Strange enough, i feel the opposite.
I mostly play sitngoes, but i can play for several hours and lose, but after some hours, i start winning. Of course sometimes i win the first hours to.

Playing just multi table tourneys is a tough on the bankroll. You need a final table finish to make the good cash, anything under that can be won at a single table sit and go. I would supplement your tournament entries with some single tables where you are only 6 players away from the money.

That's a really good post and I want to add one more idea to it. Learn to get REALLY good at Heads Up poker. If your a Touranment player, play the HU tourneys!! It's lower varience than 6/9player single table SnGs. It is one of my beard and butters. I play HU (cash and tournament) to pay for my SnGs and MTTs. SnGs always have a good portion of varience because, there are some REALLY bad players sometimes. Same with MTTs but in MTTs, you can usually ride out 90% of the Donkeys! in SnGs, you may can ride out 2-4 of players getting eliminated but if your in a turbo, you seriously need to chip up and one good suckout is all that is needed and your out.

If your a Cash game player at heart, read There's a book by David Slanksky "Tournament Poker for Advanced Players" that brings up ALOT of good points about why cash game players almost never do good in MTTs or SnGs for that matter. I'd read it, even if your a cash gamer who plays SnGs and MTTs very well, it may show you a point or two you havn't thought about. Like how folding a very strong hand late in the tournament, can actually be +EV. I will say, that it has helped improve my game
