Default Find the hole in my game (LONG POST)

Okay just going to shoot off the top of my head here, and I could be completely wrong, but I'm just going to read it as if it were me playing against you. Any notes I type below are what would be my thoughts if I were playing against you. I think this might work well because I spent much time playing as a rock in the past, which seems to be your opponent's style here...so, here we go

    tcathcart: raises 40 to 60
Wyte22: calls 40 - Opponent made a min-raise...this is a good chance to see how much your opponent really likes his hand, and you are in the BB. A re-raise would be perfect here. If he calls, then proceed with caution. I would view your call on a min-raise as weakness here.
    *** FLOP *** [9c 8s Ah]
Wyte22: checks - Not a horrible play, considering your opponent raised pre and you just called rather than raising, which would give him no reason to fear an Ace if you bet here...
    tcathcart: bets 60
Wyte22: calls 60 - Calling here not so great, but gives you power into the turn. By checking previously, then calling his bet here, he may now second guess whether or not you may have limped with an Ace preflop.
    *** TURN *** [9c 8s Ah] [5h]
Wyte22: checks - By calling the previous bet, this gave you power into the turn. I'd come out firing here, since the opponent's previous bet was very small...only 60...checking is not an option here for any chance to steal/win.
    tcathcart: checks

If you'd presented him with a larger preflop raise, then continued that aggression after the flop, if this player is a true rock as he appears to be, you may have just stolen this one away from him.

Now, because of the previous hand, the opponent is going to feel you out and try to solidify his read on you thus far...

Wyte22: checks - Bad bad bad...shame on you! You raise pre, then check? No, no and NO. Especially if you hit no piece of the flop. If you come out strong pre, stay strong after. If you get re-raised, then you know where you stand, but don't ever raise pre then check...it's a disaster waiting to happen, unless you've flopped 4 of a kind, a straight flush or a royal, you're pretty much screwing yourself out of the win.
    *** TURN *** [Qs 9s Ts] [5s]
    tcathcart: bets 60
Wyte22: folds - Of course you have to fold now, because opponent realized by this point that your preflop raise had no value, and you missed the flop obviously because of the check that followed your raise. Now he's got you pegged as a weak pot stealer/bluffer. *sad, I know, but that's what I'd think*

tcathcart: folds - the more plays I see so far, the more I am sure this opponent is a rock...he's not going to call or raise with just anything, which is why your aggression should remain consistent if you're going to appear that way. Rocks don't like to be pushed around, but they will be inevitably pushed out if faced with an aggressive opponent. (I know, because back when I was not able to vary my play, I was a total rock 24/7, and never could seem to win a heads up match, until I grew my proverbial backbone )

Wyte22: raises 40 to 60 - Don't like the min-raise here...in heads up, any two pair of rags can send your AA to the ringer. By min-raising, you are inviting a suckout. Get the money in good before it goes bad. AA needs more protection in heads up than in any other case.
    tcathcart: calls 40
*** FLOP *** [Js Jh Qd]
    tcathcart: checks
Wyte22: bets 40 - Min-bet...again, not good...granted, there is no flush draw out there, but your opponent could be drawing toward a straight, or possibly already have three of a kind or a full house. Because your initial raise and bets were so small, you invited these kinds of suckout hands to pose a threat to your AA. Best to make a move here and protect your hand. By min-betting, you're inviting a call every time, which of course, he did...
    tcathcart: calls 40
    *** TURN *** [Js Jh Qd] [6c]
    tcathcart: checks
Wyte22: bets 40 - What is it with these min-bets? I think we've found a big chunk of your leak
tcathcart: raises 90 to 130 - Of course he is going to raise now, because you've likely let him draw out on you by this point....either that, or he's going to test the waters with a feeler bet, which turned out to be the case here. I don't hate the call here, but this hand should have ended long ago, if he's as tight as I think he is and with that particular flop, then aggression would have paid volumes without risking a suckout on your monster.

    Wyte22: calls 90
    *** RIVER *** [Js Jh Qd 6c] [2d]

Wyte22: bets 210 - Where has this bet been hiding all this time!?!? LOL Granted, you got a lot out of the hand, which is good, but it sooooooooo could have gone sooooooooo very wrong, in a very bad suckout kind of way. If you'd have lost, you would have to know you put yourself in that position. So, avoid putting yourself in a position of weakness, and keep yourself in a position of strength, by showing just that...even if you'd bet just a little more on the flop and turn, you likely might have still gotten a call out of him if he hit any part of that flop, which would, in turn, have made you more money in the end.

Okay I have to stop here, you weren't lying....it's LOOOOONG lol But I did take the time to read it all...

But generally, just from the above, I'd say overall a huge part of the leak is definitely your lack of consistency with your aggression. From the above, I would peg you as an instant weak pot stealer. This can put you in a very dangerous situation if you're too "here and gone" about it. In other words, don't check after the flop if you are coming out firing pre-flop. BIG no-no there...and check/calling is just as bad. You might as well just say, "Oh here, you can have it."

Granted, you don't want to be completely predictable, but against an opponent like this one, if you're going to be aggressive you've got to keep it up and make him believe it. Show him a monster now and then, solidifying in his mind that you are indeed tight/aggressive, even if you're not, make him believe you are.

Judging by his play, bets, raises, etc...he strikes me as fairly tight/passive...so as long as you remain aggressive, and give off the image that you are not only aggressive, but that you have a winning hand when you portray it, you should have no problem taking him out in short order.

But, always beware the re-raise from a rock.....9 out of 10 times they've got a monster.....the other 1 out of 10 times, it's a feeler bet....just pay close attention to the sizes of their raises, and you can easily distinguish between what is just a "feeler" bet, and what is a serious hand, because rocks will never risk too much unless they know they'll win.

PS > I forgot to note, on the last one, it was pretty apparent that you caught a lucky hand...there was no need for you to reiterate in the chat that "the bluff turned into a hand" because think about it this way:

Just say the opponent wasn't quite paying close attention to the hand all the way through, then he would not have known for sure that you were only trying to bluff....perhaps his head might have even been turned for a split second....but by you reaffirming the fact that it was indeed a bluff, this gives your opponent vital information to be used against you. So be more careful, and step lightly where chat is concerned. As I said, previously, I'd have pegged you pretty quickly as a weak pot stealer/bluffer, and your last chat comment in that hand reaffirmed that suspicion.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

I will not sugar coat it, there are a lot. Preflop is ehhh, I saw a really weak fold of Kx on the button which is worth at least a limp. You are incredibly weak after the flop, you should really fix that.

More importantly is the stakes you're playing. I sharkscoped you and you have a 17% ROI and are in the red. Which means you had one big score and now you're playing way over your head. You should not be playing $100 buy in followed soon after by a 10.

ya I was steaming really bad the other night. It was a mistake and it's one of the things i am trying to work on doing, discinple enough to stay at the same level even when you lose 3 games in a row lol

Edit: Taking time from both sites for personal reasons, I have a strong feeling that this is why I am playing soo horribly the past few days. I'll see ya'll in a few days/weeks
