    Default My Theory about Poker

Poker is the only game where you can make the same play 1,000 times and get 1,000 different results. If you move in with AA 1,000 times your expecting to win most and lose some (different results each time).

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results each time.

I never really thought of it like that, but it is the truth. It takes a good mind to handle insanity!
It all works out in the end!!

Yeah, this theory has been mentioned before. I think it's more about expecting results within a certain percentage that keeps it from being insane.

For it to truly be insanity, you would have to be expecting a different result with all variables and factors were the same. And as we know in poker, this is simply not the case on a hand-by-hand basis.

Yeah, me and liladypokerpro are pretty much the official welcoming party, but that welcoming post seems a bit out of place.

Me and liladypokerpro should serously be on rakebacks payroll lol

LOL dragn That's funny, but in all honesty I just like to say HI to people...call it a Southern thing if you like Although I'm not sure I like saying it quite as much as deanpapa likes it apparently But ya know what I mean I just noticed that he's posted a lot of 3 or 4 word posts in a lot of threads, so I figured he might just be trying to build up some chips.

So deanpapa if you just need chips, don't be shy...just ask...I'll gladly ship some to you.

LOL well then that makes all the sense in the world I spent most of my life in Alabama myself. I love going back down there to visit. You will rarely meet a stranger at my hometown. Everyone talks to everyone like they've known them for years, and some of them probably have LOL

I remember on one of my trips to New York everyone looked at me real suspect like I was a thief or something when I was being helpful and friendly.

It's amazing how different cultures within your own borders can be.

I'd always heard the phrase, but until I visiting up north a few times, I didn't really understand the true meaning of "Southern Hospitality."

My woman is from Pennsylvania and he was genuinely freaked out by our Texas pride and by our friendliness. She couldn't understand why everyone down here hugged her, helped her, and said, "God bless you" all the damned time lol

Funny thing is, down here, I almost think I've offended someone if I don't get a hug and/or a handshake.

And, I just realized, the two friendliest people on the boards have also hijacked Wyte's thread.

    Many apologies my friend.

this is funny, but i can prove it wrong:

the result is who wins the pot, not the way the cards come...SO, i i go all in with AA in the same exact position every time, and get called by KK, and the board shows 2389Q i win...but if the board shows 2389K, i lose...

    insanity would be the following:

i go all in with AA and get called by KK, and i do this 100 times.....the board is the 24589 on the first hand, and then on the 59th hand the board is again 24589, if i won the first hand, and then lost the 59th hand, or visa versa, that would be insanity

sorry to burst your bubble :P

this aswell holds true, i go all in with AA, and get called by a random hand...if i win the hand...ok i got the result that i will win 83% of the time, if i lose the hand, ok i got the result i lose 17% of the time

That is so true. I stopped counting how often I got beaten although I had the aces.

but boarded withstanding, if you move in with AA ten times in a tourney and your expecting to win all 10 hands but you keep losing all 10 hands, doesn't that classify as insanity?

Your moving in AA with the expectation to win (+EV), you keep losing (-Sanity), but the 10th time you moved in with the AA (already 9 losses behind you), aren't you expecting a different result than the previous 9 hands?
I just won $50 from you, that you could have used, to buy food, but you can't now!
