lol... when it's heads up... I typically play a lot of smallball poker. Raising 2.5-3xBB pre-flop. So you could have tried that.

But they called an all-in with 2-4. Can't complain too much.
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

it's like I wronged a 42 or something, this is the 2nd time in the past couple of days that a 42 has eliminated me!!

I'm no heads up expert, but I do agree with frob. You technically got your hand in with te best of it, but you could have given yourself room for a bit of play.

I'm learning more and more that it's not usually worth it to shove preflop in a heads up situation.

BUT I wanna know.......HOW THE Heck DO YOU JUSTIFY calling an ALL IN with 42o? Is there some kind of math that say "ok 42o...hmm that'll beat all of 1 hand, i'll call his all in because I play at full tilt poker!"

Would you rather they call with AQ there?

I don't know how they sleep with themselves but I'll be happy to have them at my table if they make calls like that.

Yes actually, Getting beat by 42o is like getting beat up by a 2nd grader and your on the New York Jets Football team =\ If I get beat in a pot and in a game, I want to get destoryed. Like Flop quads or str8 flush or something like that!!

Dude... you need to watch Bucklox.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkIdBWY2iNg]YouTube - Poker Lesson #1 - Never let avatars push you around[/ame]

That is one video... there are like half a dozen. Not only is it GREAT stress relief. But his advice is classic. "I prefer to have lower hands. Because everyone knows that winning... winning with lower cards is much better than winning with higher cards... I mean it feels better."

Honestly... I nearly die sometimes when watching these. "Having an 8 in your hand is like having a wild-card."

Plus, he does stick to his horrible advice. He's folding AK, AQ, AJ, and stuff like that... and calling with 8-3 suited...

Edit: after you watch that... go to youtube and look up "Bucklox" and watch all his lessons. If your poker game doesn't improve... (it won't) at least your mirth will.

Hey Wyte...don't stress it man...you said that 42o has beat you TWICE this way...2 times, out of how many hands? I've seen you play HU and you're good at it. Don't worry about 2 losses when you have so many wins under your belt. Let it be as it was...in the past. Focus on the games to come.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

The thing to remember is good players don't get nearly as many suckouts as bad players.

And that's simply because good players don't get their money in bad nearly as often. So your chances of a suckout are so much less.

    In my humble oppinion,
    900 vs 2100
    50 blinds
    Heads up
No reason to push, only two possibilites, you get lucky, you lose.
Raise to 200 if u really want them to fold,
Same basic effect, with much less risk.

But heads up should never be evaluated on 1 hand. Its a momentum and image game.

You still got 18 bb stack (or in heads up I always think of it in terms of # Blind Out or # Limp Hands left)
12 Blind Out hands (Remember blinds will increase before your out)
    7 Limp Hand
All competitors (ie poker players) have earned and should recieve respect simply because they chose to compete.

Shoving when ahead is wrong, or are you suggesting something more sinister?

Lol he didn't know he was ahead! Vill's cards are blank. He has 18BBs, vill has 42. Shoving QTo vs. almost any calling range is horrendous. It's only better EV than folding if vill will call hardly anything or nearly ATC. And even then your EV prob isn't as good as if you just make a normal raise.

Heads up play is less about the cards and more about playing the player. This villian was hyper-aggressive but folded to all in bets, NOT pot (or large raises outside of the all in). That's why I made the all in.

Also, QTo is a very decent hand HU, because the value of ALL hands are increased dramatically.

6max and 9max are more about the cards and images, HU is more about, what kind of story can I tell you? a funny example of that:
