Default How do I keep my pants on when I run HOT?

Ok well As we all know you are either running hot or your not. I am usually not. Usually im the guy busting butt to keep even or make a few bucks. But recently I switched and spent 3 days playing nothing but MTTs. WOW I guess im good at them.

I have been playing the 90 person KO tournaments at FTP and the daily doubles along with some of the $5 and $10 tournaments they run.

    Here is my crude breakdown.

$3 KO Cashed in 7/17 for a total of $245
    $10 KO cashed in $3/8 for a toal of $467 won 1
    $24 KO cashed in 4/9 for a total of $2394 won 2

Daily doubles Cashed in 3/6 (one double cash) one final table for $1100 (3rd)
Random $5 tournaments Cashed in 1/5 Won it for $231
    Random $10+1 tournaments I cashed in 0/3

All in all I think that I can expect a 3 day run like this to NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!! I am hangiong my hat on this one cause I know you cant run this good and keep your money the next werek lol.

I am going to be sticking to the $3 KO and the $2 MTTs for the next week to keep anyt payback bad beat to a minimum.

    What do you think>?
Do you think this is smart to take a break on this. Its made my bankroll something to be proud of for once in my life.

    What would you do?

I would stick to the $24 KO tournies and maybe a few mtt as that is where you made most of your money. Plus You can lose 10 in a row and only be down a couple hundred. You would still be very well withen your bankroll. I dont think I would move up a level just yet though, as this could get you in trouble. Well done!!

On this note; been having a good run myself got my account up to 2k on absolute, so I am facing a similar situation. But I tend to play strickly cash games, and going up a level there can really bite ya in the ass.
It all works out in the end!!

nice one bowlaman, congrats. that is some run!

i too like the 90 man KO tournies on full tilt. i've had a lot of success in the $10 one but not so much in the $24 one.

how would you describe the strategy you adopt for these tournies?
btw what's your name on FT, just in case i bump into you?

    Default Keep at it

Well if you were willing to play when you had a shorter bankroll then there is nothing stopping you now. But all in all it comes down to the simple question. Do you want to play poker. Which most of us will all answer the same no matter if were behind, even, or ahead with our bankrolls.

Don't be afraid to keep going. You actually have some breathing room now.

What I will say is don't change you game up though. It's working for you. Alot of PPL when they get ahead alot change the way they play figuring they can handle the loss now and bluff more or make dumb moves they normally wouldn't have.

    Congrats.

Congrats on some fine performances but let's keep this in context and let's remember your "Wow i hate poker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " thread

Poker is 1 long game and not just a few sessions of highs & lows.

Jimbo we can talk sometime if you find me on tilt playing.
    My screen name is Sunkistkid

phosphorescence for my stratagy I gotta say I start the tournaments (the 90 KO) With an open mind knowing there are alot of potential fish still alive. I play strong hands STRONG like 1010 or better and try to see cheap flops woth 98 suited and small pairs. After we are down to 45-60 players I tighten to only 1010 or better for raise playing QQ,KK,AA,AK strong and will try to limp late with 66 or better(saometimes try to take blinds) Then when we are 20-30 left I am Very tight/ Aggressive. I use my chips to bully the lower stacks off pots and I try to bet big with big hands into big stacks. Seems to be a good style for me.

Also I wanted to say that I double cashed again last night in the regular daily double. First time I have ever done that back to back. Totally happy. I got like 35th and 50th or something like that. Couldnt live long enough to take home any good money though. 3 hours waisted for only like $120 total cash.

And as for me Im going to stick to the $10 KOs now and play the 24 Ko when I win the tokens through the 18 person $6 and $8 SNG THose seems to work pretty slick. I will be playing the daily double every chance I get. For some reason that tournament is MONEY for me. I have been doing very very well in MTTs for the past month and if I go look I would probably see A ton of profit in that section. I gotta stop playing cash games. THey just dont seem to be my friend. I play well but one bad beat and im down $20 where as in the tournaments I might just lose half my stack. Seems to be easier to make the stack back in tournaments than in the cash games. So its tournaments for me for at least 2 weeks to see if just doing them and staying away from cash games will help keep my bank roll strong.

You may have found your niche honestly. That's great for you!

The only caution I would give you is this: Don't forget who brought you to the dance.

Don't play crazier or out of comfort zone just because you have a padded bankroll. Keep your discipline. Hell, make a concious effort to be even MORE disciplined then before. It's easy get lax about your play when you have so much wiggle room.
