Default Donks aren't a problem, they are a solution

I've been seeing a lot of post here lately where people are griping about suckouts. That's part of the game. Yes, it hurts when it happens, but get used to it. If you don't, you aren't cut out for poker.

It probably feels like the bad players are getting away with suckouts more than you right? Well, I hate to break it to ya, but they are. Yes, I said it. They are sucking out more than you. And no, that's not a product of online poker and their systems. Get that out of your head right now.

It's simple logic. By definition, you can only suckout if you are behind at any point. If you are a quality player and getting your money in good more often than not, then you are not getting the chance to suckout.

Focus on just lessening the damage from a suckout when it happens. Be aware of the type of draw they might be on. Be aware when a card comes that might be a trap card or the kill card for your opponent. Don't be afraid to lose a little value form time to time, just to make sure you get to showdown and see their cards. Ride them for info and punish tem later.

If you've got the means, punish them for reaching for those poor draws later. Slowly take their money and make them enjoy. Don't hate them. Don't belittle them. Don't talk down to them or berate them by telling them how bad they are.

You want them to keep trying to suckout. You want them to keep playing terribly. You just have to keep a level head. You need to adjust to the situation. You need to stay even keeled and not let it get to you. It's part of the game. If it wasn't bad palyers couldn't convince themselves that they are any good and they wouldn't be part of this game.

Many of you want to believe that there is a level where these donks and fish don't exist. I hate to break it to you, but they are at every level. I've seen live games where the donks play as high as 100/200. And I've watched some high limit tables online with some atrocious players.

Some people simply have "more dollars than sense" (get it? ). These guys are having fun and can afford to throw away the money. That's how people like us get to stay ahead (cashwise) playing the game that we love and enjoy.

I'll tell you right now, if I knew of a limit that had no donks or fish at all that would mean it was full of quality players. I would steer clear of that game and definitely step down a level or two.

Keep your head on straight and take emotion out of your game and you will eventually get'em.

Pick your head up. Suck it up. Rub some dirt on it. And get back out there to fight the good fight.

It's frustrating to hear people constantly complain about how bad the donks are in their local or regular game and how upset they are.

Tell any pro that you've got a game like that and they'll fight you to get a seat. Sure, the donks will suckout from time to time, but when you get it, it will be easy money.

I agree with this post, if it wasn't for the fish and donks you would be in a tuff spot, play patient poker and bide your time. Suck outs happen all the time! Wait for the monsters and catch the fish and donks. No use complaining just take their chips lol. GL and may your stacks grow taller!!!

It's also easy to remember those big beats. You also have to remember all the times that same donk paid you off. Those times should more than makeup for that one bad beat.

I agree with this post, but you have to agree that there are way more suckouts online than there are in real life. If anyone took the time to watch any of the WCOOP highlights from PokerStars, mainly the $5,200 Main Event Final table, the suckouts are ridiculous, and these guys are donkey's making the wrong move. They had to have had some skill and luck to avoid suckouts and win races to get to that point. Watch the video, then come back and tell me there aren't more suckouts online than in real life.

I know the limit that has no donks. Its the High stakes poker Invite table with Brunson and all the legends...... Well ok there is one donk who comes every once in awhile...... *Cough* *Cough* Hellmuth *Cough* *Cough* You got to admit someone who calls someone an idiot for calling a 3X BB raise with AK and floping the A to his JJ has to be overcompensating for something. If people didnt respect hellmuth for his titles he wouldnt win half the pots he does. So many people give him amazing table image like he is holding nuts every hand. If I had that table image I would be playing every 10K tournament in the world. You cant lose with that. Any 2 cards look like Aces. Think about it. He was winning titles when there were only a few hundred players and only won like 3 with the thousands of players like today. When he makes a run to the top 100 in the main event wearing a mask so nobody knows its him. Thats the day he isnt a donk.

OMGitsBOYCH: Of course there are more suckouts online than in real life...look at how many more hands are played online...plus the fact that it's so easy to just click a button...I mean until you handle real money and real chips in your hand, you don't appreciate the importance of what that simple little click can do to you or to someone else.

As for the OP....love the post....well put.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah
