Default My First Royal Flush !

I've been playing poker for about 3-4 years, but playing online only about 4 months. If you get a Royal Flush at the casino I play at, they give you the choice of a nice chip set case or a RF jacket. (I'd take the case). Never got one live though. But just recently I got my first royal flush playing at Ultimate Bet (.25/.50 NLHE). The hand history is below. The other player had the 7c8c, and he showed great restraint in not raising me since only the 9c or Ac could have him beat. We were the two big stacks at the table.

PS: You'll see I min bet and at the end I min bet the river card, and there's a very good reason. I could see this developing, and at UB, there's Bad Beat Jackpot and if 8888 or better gets beat, the two players in the hand, the players at the table, and to a lesser extent all the players at that level, share in it. It was $133,000 at the time. But the hand must go to a show down. If I raised like all-in and he folded, even if he had the 9c (making a str8 flush 9-K vs. my 10-A royal flush), we'd get nothing. So it was critical he call along the way and not fold. I wanted the JP, not a few extra dollars from the aussie. If he instead had the 9c, I woulda got about $50k. On man....

Dude ... what happened in this hand? I honestly don't know how this could have happened.

Why no raise pre-flop? What is with the min-bets all the way? Were you looking to lose this hand? With that said... he played equally bad. Why wasn't he raising that turn?

I mean, this hand should have been won pre-flop or on the flop. And after you let him make his hand on the turn, he should have won it there.

As for your logic on the river. I doubt he's ever folding a 9c there so I'd be betting the size of the pot (which would probably be all-in the way I would have played the hand). The logic for putting in the full bet there is that if he has 9c, he's only losing to one card in the deck (Ac) and he knows that he gets the bad-beat jackpot if that happens. In fact, with no pairs on the board, that is the only hand you should see action from on the end... it's the only hand that will win the bad beat jackpot, and it's a hand that is never being folded to any amount of action.

Aside from that... congratulations on the Royal.

I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

The bad beat jackpot requires both hole cards to play.

you wouldn't get the JP anyway because both hole cards for both players have to play. You should have been trying to get more value. But congrats on the royal.

Oh crap that sucks well nevermind then shoulda smashed that villain's head in then if no BBJP possibility I have no clue half the time about the requirements because the only time I play for BBJP is at the local casino and their rules differ from the online versions.

    Default Nothing wrong there

the way the hand turned out you bet really good. you were behind at turn so if missed woulda lost minimum amount. A big riv bet isn't going to get paid off by 8 clubs. And you still got someone to call yoour Royal flush and got to show it.

    Congrats

I had one in diamonds a king of diamonds rolled off giving person 2 pair in front of me who pushed all in. I quickly called.

Best feeling in my life knowing it was impossible to be out drawn by anything.
