    Default The 7 2 game

I was recently watching an episode of high stakes poker while playing poker online. They were playing regular nl holdem, but made a stipulation that if anyone won with 7 2, everyone at the tbl had to pay the winner of the hand 500 dollars. You will not believe what this did for the action of the game. It made for a very interesting and exciting game.

The reason I am posting this is because I would like to see one of the online poker sites offering the "7 2" nl game and I wanted to see if others would be interested or what you all thought. I would love to play in this type of game, at any level.

Maybe if enough of us are interested we can email support at one of these sites, and see what they think. Just a thought, probably will never happen.
It all works out in the end!!

Come on are you serious? You really think online poker needs more action? I think we get ENOUGH action with out the "7 2 game".

Online poker does not need this action...
At home cash games, we play this. It definitely creates more action. It's fun too... except we only play for $0.05 :-)
I called a friends progressive all in with a pair of 4's and A 4 2 K J on the board because I thought he was playing 72... He would have played the same way with AA I think, so because I thought he was bluffing, it definitely created more action. I love that game.

I dunno personally like nino said I think there's enough online action imho...besides, rewarding bad play already goes on, but to give such a massive reward is a bit silly...I think the pros were just having fun if you ask me. I don't think it would be wise to make an actual game of it tho.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

There is no real such thing as the 7 2 game in NL Holdem. This is just something that the pro's decided to do since they thought the action was getting a little bland.

In cash games, as many of you know, you can pretty much do anything as long as both players agree to the terms. The most famous two are paying to see someone's mucked cards, and running the board more than once. You can do anything, such as bet on who will play the most hands, who will play the least amount of hands, who will be up or down the most or least, or even what number your thinking of. As long as the player agree, anything goes.

In regular, casino, tournament style games, there is none of these things for a simple reason, they don't encourage bad plays when dealing with player against player games. If it was player(s) against the house/dealer, then they will encourage bad plays left and right to take your money. But players don't appreciate that kind of play, and would frown upon it, making there casino loose gamblers and money.

I don't think the specific type of cash game side bet such as 7-2 would be all that a online card room should offer, I think they should offer side bets in general. Have a monitor watch over the cash game and have players make side bets whenever they want to. It would DRASTICALLY slow down the online play, but if side bets such as the 7 2 game is your kind of game, then by all means, suggest that to your favorite online ard room. But if you don't want to cut the hands from 4 hands per minute to 1 hands per minute, then I would say to let the side bets stay in the real card rooms.

Bty, I am all for side bets. Thats how I make most of my money in cash games.

That is exactly what I am talking about. It makes for a very fun game. Of course you would not play it exactly like you would play normal nl holdem. I know it will never happen. But I think it would be a neat twist if it did. Thats all

This rule is sick. Depending on how much you play it for it can make raising 72o UTG a +EV move.

    Default 7-2

I recently sat in on a $1/2 nl live game at Showboat Atlantic City. There were already 7 people playing and as soon as I sat down I was told about the 7-2 prop. All you had to do was win the hand with 7-deuce - in any manner, bluff or win outright. The payoff was $5 from each player. I am a relatively tight player and the first two hands that I was involved in I was pushed off the pot by the same player - who caught me twice with 7-2. The very next hand I was dealt AA. I made eye-contact with the 7-2 guy as much as I could but would quickly look away, I raised pre-flp ($7) and he was the only caller. The flop came AQ8 rainbow. I immediately bet slightly more than the pot ($20) and he came over the top for double my bet so I dramaticaly paused for about 3 seconds then shoved all-in (he had about $85 left in his stack.) I figured he had top pair or middle pair and was calling what he thought was my 7-2 bluff. He called and turned over AQ and my top set crushed him. He told me that was exactly what he thought -that I had 7-2 and was trying to bluff and that his 2 pair would crush me. SO even when niether of us had 7-2 it helped the action. lol. It was fun. But I wouldn't like it online because online players always over-do it.

    Default Seen these HSP episodes

I've seen these episodes of High Stakes Poker on TV too. I always thought it was a ploy by some players to induce others to play crap like 72 and they hoped it would be attempted against them, with a good hand. In other words, just a tactic to get players to play a bad cards to take advantage and win a nice pot. Overall, in the attempts I saw, the 72 players lost a lot of money.

Series four of High Stakes Poker has just started airing again in the States and can be viewed on "Poker Tube". The first episode gets off to a bang with Antonio Esfandiari suggesting that a side bet should be placed on the game with each playeragreeing to pay $500 each to the first player who wins a hand with 7-2 off suit.

    Default seven deuce

I have folded 7 2 and watched the 227 and 772 flop. I laughed and just waited for the next hand to be dealt.
I would NEVER play 7 2 (how could anyone?)

This is like playing wild cards (home game: black 7's and red 2's wild, two rows of Omaha) or slow playing AA, sick to the bone.

Just for kicks I will play 7 2 the next time I get them - and play them hard like I have the AA.
    (when blinds are low).

Remember, mathamatically this is the worst starting hand.

But also remember that any two cards can win before the flop. Push them in on me!

I want to play that 72 game. I personally think it would be fun as a once in awhile game. I wouldnt mind because that would deffinatly make the table alot of fun and make it reallyu hard to figure out what players really have. Literally could be raising with anything from AA to 72 off LOL.

I think it could be done in 2 ways. You could do a cash game where its like $5 from each player or this could also be done in MTTs where if you win with 72 off then everyone surrenders a BB to you. I mean it wouldnt be much but every BB helps \=].

I would be totally interested in a 72 game if rackback was willing to set up a date and time.

Maybe a $5 buy in and with a paypout pot structure. Example (assuming 10 person sng) $5 entry and $2.5 goes to the prize fund and the other $2.5 goes to the 72 off fund. $25 is in the fund and could be done in 2 ways. First option you could give a $5 bounty to the first 5 winners with 72 off and if less than 5 win then the excess bounty goes to the winner of the sng. The other way is every time you win with 72 off you get a share and at the end its payed out. say you win with 72 2 times and its hit 5 times. you would with $10. ($5 for each hit)

    Any thoughts?
