I check, opponent bets min, I call.
Next card K - sitting pretty and trying to figure out how to get the most out of my opponent.
I check.
Opponent bets $600
I re-raise to $1200
All-ins result.
he has a flush draw (and a one outer for a royal)
He hits the royal on the river.

Thinking back, this slow played KK probably wan't played right.
However, he did hit trip queens on the flop.

I thought he had had a flush or Full house.

1. No details on type of game played, what blind level structure in play, how many players, stakes, preflop action, NOTHING

2. Not going to comment on the play, whatever.

Please explain this: How can someone hit trip queens on a KQQ board, yet also have a royal flush draw when the turn makes it KKQQ? How could he possibly have a flush, when the most he could ever be was 4 to a flush on the turn?

You can do better than this

Even if this were completely accurate... that's a beat you have to take with KKKK against a royal flush. You will almost certainly lose that hand everytime.

If he hit trip queens on the flop, he is holding a Queen.

The turn card is a King for a board of QQKK.

Since he is holding a Queen he needs a Ten, Jack and Ace (three cards) to complete his Royal.

He is holding one other card with the Queen and one falls on the river (two cards).

He cannot have hit the Royal in this example.

strictly a point, good hands do lose.
pushing good hands regardless of type or buyin should be the moral to the story.

I really agree with gerhardt.

If one thinks about the options in games where this one might even be possible, it's pretty obvious it'll have to be omaha, since I dont know another game with flop, turn. etc and a possibility of the hand going as told.

To the hand itself:
If you lose a hand like this, it's something you cant help.

Some sites offer badbeat jackpots, and this kind of site would have given you a smile and a fat check of a few k$.

I wish I was the one holding the K's in this sense..

If one thinks about the fact they are post a hand where they have the 2nd nuts, then we realise, WTF is going on. As a matter of passing it seems like almost every thread we see revolves around hitting a nut hand, wondering whether to fistpump shove or just shove, then 2 pages of debate about whatever.

BTW as this is primarily a hold'em forum, if I see a handhistory I'm going to assume its holdem unless you know, its in the title or handhistory that its something else.

There is only going to be once, TWICE maybe that you are going to lose Quads over someone else's Straight/Royal Flush. Why fold when you know the likely-hood of him having the royal?

Also, why b!tch and moan (for a lack of a better term) about a hand that YOU GOT YOUR MONEY IN WITH THE NUTS! There was no way of predicting the outcome of this river, there is absolutly no way. So shoving here on the turn was yoru best bet. He was a donkey and was all in with a flush/Royal draw and happened to hit it. So what, no big deal. Now you know his style of play (psycho), and his style is the best way to get your money back. More times that not, against a player like this one, you are going to win back MUCH more than you lost. Yeah, you lost an all-in, but it's more beneficial to you in the long run.
