Default Poker Pro's vs. Play Chips

Me and some of my friends have been discussing some things about online poker, and they brought up a good topic. Some of them had said that poker pro's would not do good in play chip cash games for low limits, or they would lose it because there is too many donks in play chips than in real money. But some of them had said that it would be no different than real money if the stakes were high enough in play chips.

I have observed and personally playing in the cash games for play chips up to the 3k/6k limits and have lost it all because too many people will play crap just because they can. When I ask them why are they doing that in such high limits, even play chips, they always respond: 'Because I can, because it's play chips, and that is how I got here.' Or some crap like that. But would they play the same if a pro was on that play chip cash game?

I played with a Stud player on FTP in a HORSE cash game for Play Chips at the 200/400 limits. Of course he gets paid to sit down anywhere because he is a pro, but the action didn't seem to change before he sat down at that table, or after he left. People were still donking off there chips, sucking out 2 outers on the last card to come (either flop games or stud games), and they didn't seem to care. All the pro could do was sit back, play tight, hope for the best, and say 'NH', or 'Nice hand.' whenever he lost (which was frequently at this table). I played with him numerous times at the play chip tables, and he doesn't seem to be up or down in profits. But I had observed his cash game profits and he was steadily increasing his bankroll there, instead of it staying the same at the play chips.

So my ultimate question: Do you think Poker Pro's would do as good in play chip games as they do for real money?

I think they would struggle a lot more with play money just because it's so hard to put someone on a hand, or get someone to fold. This would cause a lot of problems for them.

Default Pros would not do very well at play tables

No. Play money is play money. Your friends are correct.

Phil Hellmuth blew his stack at the 2008 WSOP when he got beat by Q/10, twice. Not a premium hand but not a complete donk either, especially in a limped pot. If you flop the str8, it's disguised perfectly. I love playing A3 and A4 for that reason. Imagine how'd he react with the donk J4, 73, Q2 plays. I can't even imagine a pro playing at a play table. I can't even do it anymore.

    Default May be

Well, may be, but I've doubled up a few times playing these for the str8.

And I've doubled up though a 23 os, doesn't make it a good hand to play, or even profitable for that matter.

(I've even won tourneys with 23 os.)

Yes they would, since a pro should be able to adjust their playing style accordingly, and take advantage of the extremely loose game.

If you lose to these 'donks' even though playing well, that is just variance. And there is a lot of variance in play money games; just have to live with it. In the long long run I'd say a pro would come off on top in play money.

Some people from my home game have still not changed there perspective on this subject. I guess we need to find a pro to join Rakeback and prove us right or wrong.

Now they are swaying more towards the fact that pro's would do good in play chips according to what Mollila had said. I tried to say this, but apparently they needed to see someone else post it to believe it.

I have to agree with Mollila in this.

Any poker pro would do well in playchip games, as it is not about how many hands do you win as opposed to the pot sizes u win.

In an overly aggressive table, such as playchip games tend to be, one should tighten up and play the best possible odds. In the long run you will end up as the big winner and these donks end up giving their chips to you by donking away as they do.
