Are you afraid to play poker online?

With the passage of the legislation in Congress to curb online gambling, many online poker sites have already banned US players from playing for cash at their poker rooms. Although online gambling is legal, and the legislation affects the banking industry specifically, do you think that online poker players are afraid to make a deposit at an online poker room?

I am a little nervous to play online poker now. I still do, but not as much as I use to. I can see why other would be nervous about playing also. There is only one site that I can no longer play at due to this law. But I have cut down on playing online poker as much as I can.

Yeah, I guess people will play with caution but not stop playing poker. Also, there are still some great rooms offering U.S. players great offers.

I'm not afraid, but I only do freerolls online, so that's the difference I guess.

What's ridiculous is that the Attorney General's office has frozen Neteller's assets, which include players money till they "audit" to make sure no terrorist money is being laundered. They are holding $1400 of my money.... but the government passed this stupid law so that "the little people need to be protected from losing their money....." Well, dammit, give me my profits now!!! and quit hurting the "little me" !!!!

That is just sad. Neteller just made a press release that they are working on returning the frozen funds to customers. Hopefully you'll get access to your funds soon.

I did write to the governing body of the London stock exchange and the AG office here in the states. The answer was basically the same.

Neteller is masking the problem and making it sound like "anyday now......" Both of those governing bodies were not as optimistic. I hope Neteller is closer, but the others claim it could take, "many months to sort out all of the accounts to verify what the U.S. Attorney General is requesting...." While I'm sure I'll get it back, the question is when?

It's sorta like back in September when Rakeback was saying the tracking module was "almost done" but it took till January....

They might crossreference names with their "terrorist" list, but there are hundred's of thousands of U.S. players. No one would have that kind of manpower. I'm just hoping for the best and expecting the worst. I figure about St. Patrick's day, March 17th, I might be getting some money back.

Meanwhile, who don't know this, I've gone into my worst slump in over three yrs online. (sigh).
Not losing hardly any, but can't win a lick. Seems I'm constantly working from behind and barely get even by the end of my playing day. Tough beats coming faster and more often.

Sat down this morning at two razz games, got a 6-low in the first five cards in both games, lost in both games... (bigger sigh)... then a "friend" of mine who JUST started playing poker tells me I should loosen up my games.... yeah right, and lose worse.... come on winning streak, I'm waiting for you AND my Neteller money....

Weard world my friends.I told you what is sad.People decide how we spend our money.I work and for me it's ok to lose 300-400 euro per mounts,but the Italian government decide that play in a poker room(and bet as well) is illigal.They do it for my safe,'couse i don't spend my money in a "stupid"(for them) hobbys.I mean MY MONEY.But then you can bet in a kind of state betting room(like SNAI),and lotterry keep still money from everyone,like Bingo or other games.That's mad.

With all that has happend, I have taken a break from online playing. But I wouldn't be suprised if I started agian.

Here's another one for the paranoid players...

I "found" a cheat tonight and got him/her booted off the poker site. I was sure he was using some kind of automated software, when after finding him playing in 10 games simultaneously, dealt in all of them, never missed a beat, never timed out, etc. It's impossible to do this for as long as he was doing it without one time out or even a slight pause... not in 10 games at once.

Reported it and he disappeared instantly in all the games about 20 minutes later, in some cases in the middle of a hand... Customer service wrote me back that "he no longer has an account due to violation of the illegal use of software....."

Gotcha!!!!

I once reported one obvious case of disconnect abuse. The poker room investigated the case, and found out many similar cases with that player, and removed disconnect protection from his account.

The next "critical" date is March 16th. That's when the government must either file charges and substantiate is case, or drop the issue. Let's hope it's favorable for all of us with money in Neteller. I'm tired of the whole mess. Meanwhile, in the great state of Texas, home of our morality Mr. Ford, both of them, they have just passed a gambling bill legalizing poker.
