    Default It's been fun...

Sadly, a friend of mine called just after I won a tournament and told me that I had better withdraw and delete all my poker accounts before November 16th...worried, I looked online to find more information.

I just read that by November 17th, exactly 1 week from now, our state will have completely banned ALL online poker sites allowing US players.

To my sadness, I'm afraid this means I will no longer be able to participate in the tournaments here on Rakeback, or anywhere online for that matter.

I cannot express my sadness right now. It troubles me that this was allowed to happen, and all for greed's sake. *sighs*

I will continue to participate in the forum and post blogs, but it will be difficult...

I love everyone and I wish everyone the best of luck on the felts...please keep me in mind when you play...

Default ON LINE POKER - is it really happening?

    GeeZ,
I wouldn't know what to do if this happened to me.
What state do you live in?

Look at it this way, at least you can request your money in your bankroll(s). Get that money coming!

If you are ever in Michigan, let me know. Our home game would appreciate you!

Our civil liberties are slowly being eroded unfortunately. But remember that no one can prevent a home game from occuring.

What can you do? Contact your local state rep. (you know how to articulate), good luck!

I'm in Kentucky. And thanks for the invite to your homegame. Not sure I'll ever be able to go to Michigan, but if I ever do I'll be sure to let you know.

Default Your Win on Poker Nordica - W/D Money

    Lilady:

I saw you win a $500 Guaranteed Tourney on Poker Nordica last night. Congrats !

I see on PN a rather elaborate series of steps to withdraw money. Fill out a page of info to scan and email, plus your driver's license scan and a credit card scan. In light of the current state of online poker in KY, let me know if you attempt to W/D money from PN and if you're successful. I have some PTOTW winnings and ring game money which I'll some day want to W/D.

That guy you knocked out in 3rd wasn't happy. LOL.

Who was the guy I knocked out in 3rd? And how come I'm just now finding out you watched? LOL

I have taken withdrawals from Nordica in the past so they already have all my personal identification information...that's not a problem. The problem I'm trying to find out is if they've already solidified the block on Kentucky players, or if I still have time to make a withdrawal. I'll keep you posted.

But yes as long as you send them your identification you should have no trouble withdrawing.

Ohh okay it was that Hacksaw guy I just went and checked the game history LOL It wasn't bad enough for him to be mad about it...he just made a couple of "oops" plays and I capitalized on them LOL

This was the winning hand of the game...I honestly couldn't believe the 4s held up LOL

    Default Watching / Playing

I was playing on PN last night and saw you were in a tourney but was just playing ring games at that point. After a while I logged off.

Seemed like about an hour later I logged in again and saw you were still in the tourney so I went to the table to see where you were at; saw you were down to 3 handed, and you were the short stack. . Not too long and I believe you went all in against Hacksaw I think with K10 and it held up. Then you did-in milfpounder w/44.

And it's good to hear no probs w/ withdrawing money from PN.

Yeah I've been told I'm a pretty good short-stacked player by opponents, so I guess there was some truth to their observations All I know is that whole tourney was a battle...considering I never rebought, nor got an add-on. So I'm quite pleased with the result.

Thanks for watching...kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that someone thought enough of me to bother

    Erica,

Thanks for posting the winning hand, and more importantly, congrats on your win. By the way, what software are you using their which displays the hand history? Didn't know if that is the poker client's software or third-party.

While I'm on the subject - I have been playing online, small-short handed games for about a year with varying degrees of success. I play blind relying only on reads, tells, position, odds, percentages (the normal things we should look at). My friends have been imploring me to buy poker tracker in an effort to track my results better and obtain better reads and statistics on my opponents.

What is your take on this and what do you use if you don't mind sharing.

    Thanks in advance

WiseGuy: Thanks for your congratulations. I appreciate it very much.
The history software is actually a part of the Nordica client, found under the "History" tab at the bottom of the main lobby. Once you choose the date and game you want to view, you can expand the menu to show every hand of that game for up to 30 days (depending on your saved settings). You can also email support@pokernordica.com and have them send you a full copy of your history for any game.

Personally, I am like you in that I use more traditional methods in play. I do keep written or typed records for my review later, but I've never used any sort of tracking software, so I think the better person to answer your question to my knowledge would be Frob23. I believe he uses a particular software that seems to give very detailed data. I'm sure there are others that use similar programs, but so far as I know he's one of a handful of people that I know of that could probably explain it to you in a way that would be easy to understand for a new user.

    Default There are Ways

Looks like it is time to set up a computer at a friends or relatives house out of state and VPN in to play. There will be other work arounds available as this will most certainly piss off many people.

Or how about the fact that your freedoms as an American are being taken away from you? There simply is no reason for such bans on online gaming, it all comes down to government or corporate greed. You simply cannot reason with me that such a ban should exist, your country has countless casinos, horsetracks, lotteries, etc so this ban isn't about protecting the public from gambling addiction, etc.

It's not just about the game of poker. It's about your rights to do as you choose. USA is a peculiar country. You're allowed to buy guns but you can't play a game of poker online?

Pokertracker 2 was basically *the* best product on the market that the time. However, 2008 has been the year of tracker/hud products as new products have come out and even Pokertracker has been forced to do a huge rewrite of their software for a new version, PT3.

PT3 is extremely buggy still and not worth trying IMO. I use Holdem Manager :: HOLD'EM MANAGER :: and I have no affiliation with them. I just think it works well and has most features I am looking for currently. You can go try a 15 day full demo for free to see for yourself.

FWIW, I used to use PT2+pahud so hopefully my opinions on these products are viewed as neutral.

I have to agree with Infinii. Its not a matter of the seriousness of the issues, but more importantly, a matter of letting us dictate how we live our lives. As Infinii pointed out, our states are consumed with lotteries, casinos, horse/dog tracks and the like. To stick your nose in and decide the fate of an online community serves no purpose to me.

I can feel Erica's pain, as she is obviously a talented poker player and something she enjoys is being restricted for greed and personal gain sake.

Okay, I'm in just the right mindframe to really rip you a new one over this hateful comment of yours, but I won't...I have more class than that.

I am not "seriously posting a message like that because I can't play a game of online poker" --- if that's what you assume then perhaps it is you that needs to "get real and grow up."

I am saddened by the news because I have enjoyed many MANY hours of play and chat with people here who I have come to call friends...people from all over the world...we've learned and grown as players together...and it is unfortunate and bothersome that I will no longer get to play with these people, simply because our Gov't is focused on their greed rather than what is right.

    Default calm down

You guys have got to calm down. There is no need to run to the poker sites and just grab all your money. I had to do a lengthy paper on the UIGEA and there certainly isn't anything in there to be afraid of. On top of that, there is no state that has the power to really do anything more than that. They won't ban web sites and if they do it will quickly be overturned through lawsuits. You don't think they would have already banned the sites if they could have? If they actually did ban a site in your state and it was never overturned...you don't have someone else in another state to withdraw it for you? As far as Wells Fargo, banks could stop processing payments from poker sites at any time. They wont because its too hard to trace where the funds are coming from but they could do it tomorrow or 5 years from now.

First of all, go play Wii or whatever it is you kids do these days to keep yourselves occupied away from the computer. Second, I don't recall ever saying I don't like the USA, and thirdly, don't begin to assume you know anything about what is going on with this conversation and then add your meaningless two cents into it. I'm not in the mood for childishness. This is a serious matter and an adult conversation...if you don't have anything valuable to add to the conversation then BUTT OUT and let the adults debate over what to do about this serious matter.
