    Default WSOP Fees Question

At the bottom of the structure sheet for the WSOP Main Event, the following is stated:

"4.2% of the total entry pool will be withheld for entry fees, and 1.8% of the total entry pool will be withheld for tournament staff."

I understand the part about the tournament staff. Can someone please explain the 4.2% being withheld for entry fees? With 6,844 entrants, this equates to $2,874,480, or enough to pay the entry fee for 287 players.

Any explanation would be greatly appreciated.

It's a fee for playing in the tournament payed to the casino. Just like online when a tournament is $10+1. The $1 is the entry fee.

4.2 % is actually really good. Most tournaments at low to medium stakes are 10% ($10+1, $20+2) then they get lower when the buy in goes up. like $100+9 is only 9% and $200+16 is 8% and then you get up to the $1,000+50 which is 5%. 5% entry fee is the lowest online fee I have seen, so 4.2% is nothing. Its actually really really good.

But there's the extra 1.8% withheld from the total prize pool for staff also, so it's not any better than online really.

In fact, it's actually 1% more than the 5% online tourneys.
