    Default Satellite

Do you play in many satellite tournaments?

I have recently been invited to play in some satellite tourneys. For Nordica, rakeback members, check your coupon page, you may also have an invite. I have played in very few satellites, maybe 10. I do not know why I do not try more, I believe the lack of a payout scares me away (I realize that is the object).

I have had a little success when I have tried to climb the satellite ladder and found a nice payday during one effort. But for some reason I lean back toward the cash games, sitngoes and MTTs.

Since I went through the effort of asking, I will try a few satellites within the next week or two and see what happens...........

    Bye,

    Satellites are awesome for me.

My game allows me to get far into almost every tourney. Unfortunately, I am usually short stacked by the time there are about 10% of the field remaining. This means I end up being a "bubble boy" or making only 1 1/2 to 5 times my buy-in a lot of the time.

After hundreds of tourneys played my ROI is only about +25%. If I do the math on this and I figure I average finishing with 25% of the field remaining, I am not getting good value in a regular payout MTT.

If a satellite pays out EQUALLY to the top 10% finishers, and I can finish in the top 10% about 20% of the time, my ROI becomes +100% in satellites. I finish in the top 10% about20-25% of the time, so satelites are better for me.

    Example:

Step 1.I'll play in the 9 player. 1800 FTP sit&go satellite. The top 3 get a $26. token. I can finish in the top 3 almost 50% of the time.

Step 2. I'll take the $26. token to the $750,000. ($216 buy-in) satellite. The top 11% or so of the field get the $216. buy-in. If I win, I unregister for $216 Tourney dollars.

I have won two of these $216 buy-ins that are currently sitting in Tourney dollars and only used up 19800 FTP to get them. 19800 FTP are worth $99. at $.005 per point, but I have converted them into $432. tourney dollars. I cant expect this "conversion rate" to continue but I think +100% should be quite easy.

    I love satellites.
