Default ***UPDATE on the Kentucky Poker Ban***

Here is a forum post from a fellow player friend of mine from Kentucky on another site. I can vouch that his claims are genuine and real, as I also cannot access any of the sites he mentions below. There are more sites on the list to be banned, and they hope to accomplish this by the deadline of January 19th, 2009.

Ouch, a list of 7 poker names. And two major and one semi-major names up there. And with a total frozen balance of $307.45 + 6 gold cards (explain what these are please?), it's just losing more money in the long run for Kentucky residences who play online poker... Very sad...

I don't know what the gold cards are as I don't play on Cake, but I can ask him and see...

Mo, we do live in China. Everything you touch in a store comes from China. You can not find a toy made anywhere else. Run to the store for all that 75% off Christmas stuff, I bet more than 95% is from you know where. Plus they own most of our foreign debt. All they have to do is call in some money and the U.S. sinks faster than our old friend Atlantis. Civil liberties are already under fire. Population control is not far behind. Too bad population control will not start at the top, with our so called elected leaders.

    Default Gold Cards

Gold Cards are one of Cake Network's reward systems. They are similar to Full Tilt's FTPs. However, Gold Cards are far more valuable in that they may be redeemed directly for cash or used to enter into MTTs. A player can receive a gold card while sitting at any cash game table. Gold cards are given randomly to players at the end of some hands and do not require players to actually play their cards (in other words a player can fold preflop and still receive a gold card at the conclusion of the hand).
Cake Network is quite different from most networks in that it owns multiple poker rooms. Cake Poker Room, and Sportsbook Poker Room, are two poker rooms that I can name off the top of my head, but there may be more owned by Cake Network. I currently have an account at Sportsbook Poker, and have gold cards on that account, but do not play there often. I do however use Sportsbook as a means for online sports wagering.

So just read the first paragraph where it talks about how you can play legally on there site to win cash money. Maybe you still can play online lilady. Here's the news article:

No problem. I was looking up the news for poker in google, and that showed up and I thought of you because of the ban. So now there is a loop hole in your online ban.

I really hope they remove this stupid a$$ ban in Kentucky. Good luck there after the ban. And if you ever head over to California, hit me up and I may let you in on my home game.

Default online poker is here to stay, c'mon man

    I had forgotten about NLOP.
I had trouble running the download, and wasn't sucessful trying the site.
I will try again to download.

Another site offering a different style of buy in is spadeclub, where you pay a monthly or yearly fee. I was part of their beta group last summer, (or a couple of summers ago) and played some free tourneys, cool site.

After the beta testing we were offered an exclusive membership, but found out that Michigan Law does not allow this. Does anyone have any further info about spadeclub or NLOP?

Tried the NLOP software earlier tonight. It's pretty nice. It has a Basic Membership that is free, or the VIP Membership that is $19.99 a month. The Basic offers plenty of opportunities, so I'm sticking with that for now. Carrie and I might be trying to buy a home in the next few months, so I don't wanna chip away at what little bit we have for that.

Once I read up more I'll let you know...didn't have time to really read all of the info for NLOP *(there's a lot)*, but seems pretty decent and the play was surprisingly good considering *(then again I could have just picked up a good table lol)*.
