    Default Poker Bots

In case any of you are wondering, there are poker "bots" (robots) out there playing against you. The only advantage they have is the amount of rake they can generate to honor/earn bonuses. They are somewhat at a disadvantage in some ways in that they usually have to have a set program.

I have been emailed by no less than three sites offering to sell me their "one of a kind" bot. Huge prices and they claim they use A.I. in the programming. (Artificial Intelligence). Before you ask, I will under no circumstances release any site addresses. I don't want to play against them, and think they will be the death of poker. Most sites, if not all, they are illegal.

If you are caught using one it is considered "fraud" in regards to earning rake, rakeback etc. They usually clearly state they have to right to lock down your account and confiscate your balances period!!! It hurts all the rest of us when it is misused.

But... they are "out there" as Muldor use to say to Scully....

Oh for Pete's sake. What fun is that?

That's really a bummer, to think you're playing against like-minded people and in reality it's a bot. What a way to spoil a good game!

bring on the bots. Bots are easy to beat. One dimensional programs that cannot change gears and keep up with the game. I want to know where the bots are...after all an ATM is a bot.

I once played at a table where there was an obvious bot. It sat at the table for a long time, and only had a starting stack of four big bets. Whenever it got below this, it sat out while another hand was being played and reloaded to that amount. The same thing happened when it was winning, it sat out and set the stack to four big bets.

I recall it was losing, so I was just glad that it was there Like AcousticLicks mentioned, bots are predictable.

The old bots were totally predictable, especially on Ultimate Bet where they seemed to be everywhere, and still are. However, the newest one, Artificial Intelligence, adjust their game to the players as they gather data on players in a data base.

You are right, Molilla, usually their buy in gives them away. My first test when I suspect one in any game I'm in, is to ask them a simple, but friendly non threatening question, "where is ....., near Utah," and if I ask a second one and still don't get an answer, other than a few exceptions of people shutting off their chat, it's usually a bot based on their play. Also, almost all "pauses" are of the same length, very little variance either way.
