How Poker Found Me!

Introduction to the world of online poker!
At the end of 2004, I had never even played poker before although I had seen my friends play a form of poker called Russian Poker or 13 card Poker and did not quite take to it as it was a live card game and not really convenient to learn for a quiet guy like me as I seldom socialised to play such card games. So it was the same with Mah Jong which was a popular and addictive game with the rest of my family.

To me it was just not my cup of tea! Then came an introduction to Online Poker through friends of mine about a site that boasted Hollywood Celebrities Vince van Patten (WPT Host) and James Woods (Shark) as their spokesmen with over 200 other Hollywood Celebrities with my favorites Kelly Hu, Dennis Quaid and Mimi Rogers joining in the fun at the tables! And I could learn the game playing the free games with players from all over the world from the comfort of my home! How wonderful was that!

I became quite good at the game and ventured to other sites as time went on but HollywoodPoker will remain as my favorite for introducing me to the "easy to learn and play but difficult to master" game of Poker due to the intrigue of combining psychology and skill plus luck that can enable almost anyone to win!

The big purses paid out at the WSOP and the champion's bracelet is a dream for many a poker player to pursue and I am no different! But to reach that level of play, I still have some way to go!

So bear with me while I chronicle my journey towards my goal!

I had played some random hands of 5 card draw poker myself in the years past, but that was not so interesting and it was online poker and the variety of games back in 2004 that really got me interested.
