I would have to say... "information". He could be calling for any number of reason, but the main one is that you two are heads up. He wanted to see your cards for future information and he thought he might have had the best hand.

That's a VERY steep price for just information... This is a heads up sng... and calling a third of your starting stack with K high... I highly doubt any information could be that valuable. I could understand if he had a pocket pair and thought me still might be good up against a bluff... but with an A on the board and K high with your hole cards... I find it hard to believe this guy was looking for information.

Calling that other 500ish put the guy down 2,550 to 450, instead of the game being 2020 vs 980. In heads up sng's, that seems to be a huge difference to me. To me, this feels like a bluff gone bad and calling out of spite on the river.

HAHAHA, to get information?! Nobody would call that river raise to get information that won't matter since you'll be crippled. That response baffles me, gamer.

It's either a misread of his hand, a misclick, or an "I don't care anymore" call.

Oops, I thought it was $2 HU SnG, not $200. In that case, then I take back what I said. I see all the time people calling with crap to see others hole cards at the lower limits, but not at that high of a staked table. I know I would NEVER get myself into that situation where I call off most of my stack with king high, so I don't see how someone at a $200 HU SnG could do this, and I don't play that high of stakes.:P

Not that I think about it, maybe it's Phil Hellmuth in disguise letting off some steam, 'trying to make all the other players look like the donks they are'.

Thanks for all of the repsonses. I'm not normally one to post hand histories or question the play of my opponents in public, but I just couldn't come up with any good reason to make that call.

I could even make a case for him pushing all-in. At least there could be some logic to that. But to call and put yourself down to about 500 chips in a $200 heads-up match is baffling at best.

Yeah, as boilermaker said you get calls like that when people are on tilt.

Believe me because I am one of those people at times. I get so choked I could care less whats going on.

Why didn't you ship the flop?

    Just curious...

I try not to risk all of my chips on a draw. For $200, I'd rather get a read on my opponent and then outplay him.

    Just my preference.....everyone is different.

Hmm...well given that it seems you were mirroring him (i.e. when he bet you called, when he checked you checked), perhaps he felt you might have second pair, or top pair with a low kicker, and playing it kind of safe/weak. If/when he connected on the river either with Aces or with two pair like AQ or AJ maybe he thought it could be good if he thought you held something like say KJ or KQ. I don't think he would have put you on the draw since most people would bet the draw. Did he take the time to think at all before making that call? If not then most likely he put you on a specific hand and felt confident he had you beat by the river card. If he did think about it, then perhaps it was just a gamble. Hard to say for sure...

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

Sounds like a bluff gone horribly wrong. Sometimes folks get locked into executing a particular move, and once they wake-up, now in mid-mistake, they just go kamikaze, hoping against hope that they'll either catch a card, or rattle you enough to cause you to fold. That's the only thing I can think of...
