Default Some Poker rooms offer a cash prize for new players.

Recently a friend of mine joined Pokerstars, and they gave him 5 dollars free cash to try the site.

Is anyone else aware of other poker rooms that offer any kind of "cash" incentives to join them. I'd like to start a list for players looking to get started.

Only pokerstars as far as I know. I got their $5 a few times. But that was because I was inactive for a while here and there, so they gave it to me to come back to their site.

I didn't know there was any poker rooms that offered cash incentative to become members. I've only played at Full Tilt. I'm not aware of any cash offers there.

I have had a few that did that, $5 or $10 sign up no deposit bonus, but sadly their software sucked and so did their traffic, so I didn't stay on them and can't remember the names of them after all this time LOL I'll see if I can find one or two if I can recognize the name and post the names here if I do.

Edit: Ok I can't seem to find the sites now, but I did remember that Pitbull Poker offers a free $10 when you sign up. But honestly that site is kinda *bleh* imho I called a buddy of mine and he has suggested VC Poker. I don't know anything about this site but he said they will give you up to $25 no deposit sign up bonus, so it might be worth checking out.

If you are outside the US, then you could probably go to a site like bankrollmob or someplace like that and sign up for different sites they offer that have no deposit bonuses. I think Titan Poker might be one of the ones that offers starting out money...can't say for sure tho. Just do some research.

Bodog offered me $10 to give their "casino" a try. The only problem was, you had to clear $100 worth of bets to be able to cash any of the $10 out of the casino area to use in poker. I got pretty lucky with blackjack, and was able to transfer $15 over into the poker area (placed $1 bets with the occassional double down and somehow placed 100ish bets and had $15 left over)... so there's an idea... but you can't play poker with it right away.

I really hated their site though.

Ouch bad luck Ryzant...I also got that $5 from PokerStars, though it was not right when I opened the account. It was about a month later. They sent me an email saying "We noticed you haven't deposited on our site yet, so we'd like to get you started with $5 free" or something to that effect.

Darn that really sucks... was this promotion recent or long ago? oh well... I might have lost the $5 anyways. I wasn't and still am not good at poker.

My buddy got the five bucks from stars about three months ago, so it could very well be over, what with the economic crunch we are under.

There are sites (one that I used years ago as well) that offer a free $50 if you join a poker site through them. I got mine for UB. I don't think I'm allowed to mention the sites here, but just google and you'll find them.
Limit poker is a science, but no-limit is an art. In limit you are shooting at a target. In no-limit, the target comes alive and shoots back at you.

Agree with Fictive here. I personally got a free BR off 2 different sites, all I had to do was pass a simple quiz. It was a great way to start building my BR but in hindsight, I wish I never actually done one of them.

Basically I got a free $30 but needed to earn 5000 points before I could cash it out. Grinding micros made this a thankless task, after 10k hands I still only had about 500 points so just gave up although I did manage to cash out some winnings before blowing the original 30 on a couple of SNG's. I now also realise I was part of a growing problem on this particular network as it encourages SSS and virtually every FR table in the micros is now ruined IMO
