    Default Quads do kickers count

I have various poker programs for my computer. On some of them when four-of-a-kind comes up in the community cards and two players or more are left in, the kicker cards in ones hand count to award the pot and in others it doesn't. So my question is do you just count only the four-of-a-kind or also your kicker card?

Kicker counts in quads. In Texas Hold'em the best winning hand is made out of five cards, so in four-of-a-kind you would use the 4 cards for quads plus kicker as 5th.

Remeber the kicker can be on the board also, if there is 2222A out and you have KQ vs 10J you split the pot as you both use the ace.

a kicker would only play if there are quads on the board.

    Default Omaha

The statement sometimes they count and sometimes they do not is confusing. The kicker always determines the winner if the hand is equal besides the kicker. If playing Omaha, then all bets are off as you use 3 board and 2 hole cards. You could never have two players with the same quads at Omaha anyways, lets not even state those dirtty two words, "wild cards".

As stated, the highest 5 card hand wins in hold-em, if all 5 cards are on the board then pocket kickers mean nothing.

Kickers play, and with Hold-em, they become the determining factor quite often.

All good info; thanks. I haven't run across it, but if I do, I'll know how to figure it out!

Best 5 card hand wins in Hold'em, so kicker counts with quads on the board. You would split if there is a higher card on the board than either player has, or if both players hold the same high card.
