Default How does "Hi All, My very first blog ever!!" get nominated for PTOTW?

How does "Hi All, My very first blog ever!!" get nominated for PokerThread of the Week, and then others that offer some good poker discussions with a multitude of replies gets nothing?

Alas, as more people participate, there are more posts to choose from. It happens...

Personally, I'm glad to see some new people getting an opportunity to play in the PTOTW tournament. For too long it's been the usual group getting nominated, because the forums went a bit "dead" for a little while.

As for the blog, I think the mods found it interesting because the player is from an area which sparked their curiosity, and it seems this member is going to be active in the future, which is always a good thing.

Looks like her blog is going to be about poker scenarios she experiences, and wants to blog about. What better way to give her some material for her blog than to invite her to a private freeroll? She'll have plenty to talk about afterwords, I bet!

    Just a thought...

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

Seems to be no rhyme or reason why threads get nominated. That being said, it gives you entry into a freeroll, so I look at it as a bonus. If I'm not nominated, it didn't cost me anything.

Based on the whole rakeback concept, I'm never going to complain about anything regarding this site.

Default I agree with the fact that it's good to have new people rewarded, but...

If you add a good post, that leads to many discussions and posts, you should be rewarded. If you work at replying to posts to your threads and it keeps people coming back to rakeback to add their opinion, then you should be rewarded.

That is the whole point of a forum. Otherwise just make it random, I would be fine with the random concept. Just don't call it "Poker Thread of the Week" When it has nothing really to do with poker and there is no "Thread" to speak of.

    My two cents.

Maybe they nominated some new faces because they saw that their thread was going dead and thought that nominating some new faces would boost there viewers on their site.

The PTOTW is basically another advertisement for rakeback. The more people that advertise this pricate freeroll to, the more people will want to come here. If the same people are getting nominated for moderate - great posts, then it would shy away all the new faces becase they would think they don't have a chance.

Me personally, I never make a post thinking i will get nominated for the PTOTW, I just post because it is a fun group to talk to. If there is a new face that is joining out group because they got invited to the PTOTW, then that is fine by me. The more the merier.

And honestly, I got invited in my first time being active here and am glad I did because I never would have been posting as much as I did, I never would have learned as much as i did, and I never would have been happier with all the new friends that I have
made. It was a wonderful experience and I am glad that they are nominating some new faces.
