Here is a better version of it. Sorry the replay is bad, but it's from PokerNordica.

Sucky that that wasn't 88 vs 99 or something. That would have been a great payday.

Tell me about it. With PokerNordica's Bad Beat Jackpot at around $350k, I would have been smiling all the way to the bank.

    Haha!

Edit: Anyone here know why they only pay to quad 7's (or 8's, don't know) being beat? And why you have to use both of your hole cards?

Aren't the chances of quads beating quads the same no matter which quads it is? Yeah, there are less quads if quad 7's have to be beat, but come on. When are you ever going to see quads being beat by quads again? Probably once, twice, IF THAT, in your poker life?

They do that because it makes it harder to get a "real" bad beat. And it is harder to beat quad 8s than it is to beat quad 4s. Quads 4s can be beat by 3 more hands than quad 8s. But the difficulty in beating each hand is less part of their reasoning. By making it 8-8-8-8 or better they are cutting half the quads out of the running for bad beats (and more than that many ways of them being beaten out). That reduces the chances of you getting a bad beat even more.

Still, it's not quite hard enough... so they make it so that you have to use your both hole cards as well. That makes it significantly harder to get a real bad beat. This is all done to make payouts rarer and that makes the jackpop larger which makes more people want to try for a bad beat... which eventually makes money for the house.

Here is a table to show the how the payout odds change for the differences you mention: http://wizardofodds.com/holdem/badbeat.html
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

i've been playing for about 5 years and have had quads beaten 3 times. twice on suckouts by higher quads. once by a straight flush. the river gave me quads and him the straight flush.

Wow. That is the only time I have beaten quads and have yet to get beaten with quads. And I have been playing for 7 years. But probably not that long online as much as you have DeadBabySoup.

i've played quite a bit online. about 3,000 sit 'n goes ranging from heads up to 180 seaters. mostly 90 seaters. plus a couple hundred large tournaments. i also play a bit live (i live in vegas), but these were all online. i can't find the odds of losing with quads, but i'm guessing i had unusually bad luck. my gut feeling is i should have only lost once statistically.

I'm a newbie. I've only been playing poker "seriously" for less than 2 years. Before I had been playing for an entire year, my quad 7's got beat by quad 8's. I flopped the quads, and this other guy shoved with his K8 with a single 8 on the flop. Low and behold, runner runner 8's hit, and I stopped playing poker from fear of majorly being on tilt for a week and a half. The sad thing was it was only a $2 sng. I look back now and laugh.

same thing happened to me about a week ago. was coming out of the break in a 90 seater. had 99 under the gun. i limped. someone raised 3 times bb, i called. flop was j 9 9. i checked. they guy bet the pot. i shoved all in. about 4 times the pot. he called with something like q j and hit running jacks.
