Default Telling your hand in chat?

Can you tell other people what you're actual hand is in chat?

    Here's the scenerio:

These two were battling back and forth for a couple of hands. When all of a sudden the one guy says "don't do it I have a-a." Well, the other guy goes all in and the one who said he had aces flips aces over. I told him I didn't think he should be doing that and didn't think it was right.

Not sure, is there any rule about telling people your hand in chat?

I would think that would be against the rules. I know that you're not allowed to say what your hand is when you're playing live, so I don't see why it would be ok online. You should have reported the chat, or check the chat rules for the site you were playing on.

Since when can't you say anything about your cards?

technically, i don't think you're supposed to tell someone your hand. but if anything, all full tilt is likely to do is give you a warning. and if someone complains again, possibly take away your chat. personally, i don't have a problem with it.

It's bad table etiquette to tell your hand during a round. Mainly because by doing so you are telling the other players which cards are out of the deck, which could affect the outcome of the hand and how they play it from that point forward. Many sites frown upon it and might even revoke your chat if you get reported for it. I know at the local casino, they will remove you from the room if you do this. I think the only time you can get away with it is if the other players are all in and no further action can be affected by you telling your hand.

I really don't care one way or another, as long as I'm not the one affected by it.

I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

I think as far as bad etiquette on this goes, if you are down to heads up play against another person, it should be okay in a cash game. Not so much in a tournament. But I know I've watched cash game play where one player would flip over a card, and I know in many of the games I have played (not in a casino) people usually don't mind as long as it's down to just two players. However, if more than a heads-up situation is occurring, it really shouldn't be allowed because it can affect too much.

My experience has been that you don't give away your hand until showdown, or the hand is over. I'm not sure why you would want to, anyway...

It's pretty bad etiquette to talk about your hand (telling the truth or lying) in the middle of the hand. There are general exceptions and that would be if you and one other person are the only people left in the hand. At that point, the only player your talk would influence would be the other player in the hand.

Still, if this is a common thing then it could be a sign of collusion so most rooms will give you a warning and remind you to not talk about your hand while there's still action. On heads up tables, collusion is impossible so if you feel the need to discuss your hands, only sit at heads up tables and go to town.
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.
