If you post in cutoff, you're still paying an extra bb. You're paying 2.5bb for that first orbit. Why aren't people thinking? Yes, it's the same price for the first 6 hands if you post in the cutoff, but then you hit the blinds and end up paying more per hand in the long run.

And if it was so much better to post in the cutoff, why wouldn't people just post, wait till the blinds approach them, get up, and come back after the blinds pass them so they can post in the cutoff again?

You guys are overcomplicating things terribly.

This is flawed logic. You are paying 1bb for those first six hands and then 1.5bb for every orbit thereafter. Looking at it as 2.5bb for first orbit is just wrong and my explanation is the least complicated way to actually prove the merits of waiting for the blind (or possible posting in CO if your stats are different).

Generally I tend to wait for the BB to come around to me (natural BB in OP words) at a 6 max table, but if it's a 9 or 10 max table, I may elect to jump in from the CO. It really just depends on how froggy I'm feeling. I don't see much difference in the two options money-wise at a 9 or 10 max table, but at a short-handed table I think it would definitely be pointless to jump in from the CO rather than waiting for the "natural" BB. Just my 2c.
I see you talking but all I hear is blah blah blah

Interesting points here, I tend to play 6 max if cash and therefpre ONLY post on my natural BB.

It is quite amazing though that many players pay considerable attention to when they post, but then will often choose to leave a session before playing out a full round .

Doing anything other than 2 is a waste of money. Rethink your logic, please.

And to your last paragraph, why wouldn't you want to have a cheap and tight image? You'll be able to win pots without going to showdown much easier. So unless you plan on hitting big hands every time you're in the pot (good luck), I would assume you'd rather not go to showdown every hand with a loose image.
