How do professional poker players get paid?

When you see a poker player sign with a poker room. Do they get an annual salary?

I mean I have no doubt that they get free entries into tourneies, but do they have to play a certain amount of time per day. or do they pay rakeback.com/">rake back and that sort of things?

I believe they get paid a salary, but they have to play a certain number of hours each week. They also get 100% of their rake back.

It depends on the site and how big of a player they are. Full tilt originally signed all the big team members Ivey, Lederer, Juanda, Seidel,Matusow, Hansen,Harman,Bloch, Lindgren,Ferguson,Cunningham and Gowen to 1% ownership in the company. Last year Lederer cut gowen from her contract and offerer her $250,000 and she turned it down. She is suing fulltilt for 40 million. Fulltilt is valued at 4 billion so thats 1%. (I always thought she was the weakest of all the players)
