Default Handling your downswing on FTP

    dear all,

I`d like to know how lang your downswings typically last?

ATM mine lasts for about 4 weeks. Normally I don't mind some downswing, but because it seems that I cannot overcome it, no matter what, it is starting to affect my game.

Normally I am a profitable player, cashgame, SNG and tournaments. I started first at pokerstars, but a friend recommended Full Tilt. My first impression was good, I won some MTT's, got to some Final Tables at tournaments, but after that my bad run started..
My stats were ok during the first four weeks of the bad run, but now my game is starting to get edgy because of it. My standard profile floats between neutral and green bomb.

Like to know some of your experiences with downswings on Full Tilt..

    kind regards,

I know it's easier said than done but you mustn't let it affect your game. The important thing is to remember bankroll management, if needs be then drop down a level. There's no answer to how long a downswing will/can continue. How often do you play? How many hands/tables per session?. If you've had a heater for 4 weeks then you have to accept there will be a downswing sooner or later. Like I said, bankroll management is the key in a downswing.

Yes.. downswings have to be the worst part about poker for me! Hopefully I am coming back after my last month of bad luck (for the most part). I made a nice profit in January and February, so I had Ultimate Bet send me a check, that's just when it all went bad. Lol, but I just started coming back about a week ago.
I think it is best to keep the idea of "streaks" out of your head, well I guess good streaks are alright to think about. But if you are thinking about a bad streak while you play, it usually only makes the situation worse.

When my bankroll starts to take a hit, I ALWAYS review my hand histories after each session to see if it was my play, or just a run of bad cards that did the job. Wherever I see errors, I try my best to remember them for the future.. and for when the cards fell the wrong way, I remind myself that poker is a game for the long haul!

They may win a battle from time to time, But in the end I will win the war
