He probably didn't know you were going to push the river, but what confident that you would bet. He could have chosen to value bet the river but probably thought it would be more profitable to allow you to bet. I don't think he played the hand very well though, but your pf like did scream pp so he might have wanted to pot control. The only thing I think you should have done is raise the flop.

maybe he knows u as a consistently thin value bettor on the river and planned a re-raise to get u pot committed

Im guessing he wanted to show weakness by checking the scary Ace therefore giving you what seemed like an opportunity to steal or bet what you thought was the winning hand!!!
the money was going all in regardless but would of pot bet the flop and tried to get it all in on turn but thats just me..

You play at a significantly higher level than me - so it's probably fair to say you are a better player than me, but one thing from that report is standing out a mile...

...why on earth did you limp in that position with that hand? Had you made a proper pre-flop raise it's likely the other guy would have raised you - therefore giving you information and the chance to put him on a hand. How many hands re-raise preflop? AA and KK are standard re-raises right?

No only that but he would have had some information on you and when you hit your trips you should have made a significant bet to define your hand and when he raised you with his AA holding you could have re-raised with the trips - waving a HUGE warning flag to him that you had in fact made your hand and cracked his aces.

Now admittedly you wouldn't actually want him leaving the pot at this stage as you had him totally dominated so you were probably destined to lose this hand anyway, but if he had folded and you took the pot on flop or the turn then surely that would have been a better result for you than losing a $250+ pot?

Just my tuppence worth, but I really think you gave him no opportunity to fold and therefore the chance to out-draw you. Which he did. Bad luck

You can question this play all you want, the end result will be the same. The money is going in on this board. As if he'd ever fold his aces .. this is a cash game, not the final table of the main event. Life goes on.

Oh and his check on the river .. feels great if it works, sucks if the victim checks behind.
