I have not been invited several numerous times. When I don't get invited, I don't get invited. It doesn't change the way I feel about the site or the discussion on here. Sure it's nice to get the invite, but being invited is just a bonus for active participation. I don't know, I just don't see it that way deathcard.

if the majority were let in, it wouldn't be an exclusive tournament anymore. so it wouldn't be much of a reward. as it stands, it's about an $8-$10 value depending how many people show up and play. the more people you let in, the less your buy in is worth. once it's only worth a couple dollars, it wouldn't be worth most members' time even playing.

    This.

My posts are kinda few and far between. I try to post when I think I have something of value to add and don't think about getting selected to the freeroll.

Having said that, I do appreciate when I do get selected and the current structure couldn't be much better for me.

absoultely, it's a great value? but does the forum benefit?

Yes. I think it does. A larger field=less benefit as well. How much discussion do you get from the community tours vs how much discussion do you get from the PTOTW's? The PTOTW rewards those who stick around and continually post quality things (although not EVERYONE is rewarded EVERY week by any means), it generates interesting scenarios that develop into discussions on the forum, and it gives some motivation to stick around here. I'm not sure why you are bent out of shape to the extent of saying the forum is actually hurt by the PTOTW just from not getting invited one week. It's nothing personal to not get invited. You can't look at the PTOTW in the mindset that you deserve to be invited... it's merely a very nice bonus when you actually do get invited.

the forum is about 1000% more active now than it was for the few weeks PTOTW went away. so i'd say it has a significant impact. if they want to get more activity, i think the answer would be to increase the prize pool. it might not be feasible for them right now. but imagine if if the future PTOTW was worth a $50 or $100 buy in. i think you'd see a lot of quality posts trying to get nominated. but that would only make sense if the popularity of PTOTW was enough to encourage hundreds of new members to sign up, generating more revenue for them.

I went through a stretch where I did not get nominated for the PTOTW for a good two months in a row. It was a little bit frustrating. But, in fairness, I was really busy and offline a lot so I wasn't posting much and many of my posts weren't really quality posts.

I know it stinks when you don't get nominated but things will turn around if you keep active. And it's great the way it works right now. We have a decent number of people in the game (I like the current size) and it offers a good value for being active.
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

    New suggestion fot PTOTW.

How about allowing nominees to "bank" their entry if they can't play that week. This would eliminate the frustrating sit outs.

It seems about 15-20 get nominated each week now. You could cap the number of entries in each freeroll at 20 (first come, first serve), so that all the banked entries don't get used all in the same week. You could allow a nominee to use their entry in the current month or the following month. Then it would expire.

Rakeback.com would have a little extra work in tracking the number of banked entries, expiry dates and password emails, but it would allow most nominees to actually use their entries when they are able to play instead of just enterring early in the week and hoping they can make it.

    Default HI Again

I have been busy with new puppies and other items, so have not been around lately. With Fall looming, my poker play and Rakeback action will increase.

The PTOTW has been very good to me, helped me build a nice roll at Nordica from nothing. It is hard to beleive it has been a year since it was started. Remember this stated as a voting contest for best thread idea, but we witnessed some voting shinanigans, thus changed it to the tourney format. If this is too much to manage on a weekly basis, perhaps change it to monthly.

I would take the veteren members and put them in a list, take the newbies and mid level users that post 5(x) times in a month and invite them. Have a once a month $500 tourney, if you guys are having a good month, make it $750 or $1000. I do not know of a way to protect the tourney from persons sharing the pw even with private message, unless you can have a limited list at the poker room. Or play for $1.00 and let trusted members report back to you what occurred and you can deposit winnings directly into accounts or add to monthly Rakeback, thus assuring the money is spent on Rakeback members, not someones friend with free password. Let the regulars play every month if desired, if one misses some posts, but has a good standing in the community let them play anyways, it may get them back to posting more.

As always the Rakeback received in my poker account is the main reason I joined Rakeback in the first place, but posting in this community and the free tourneys are nice too.

    Bye,
