Default Harrah's forms Interactive subsidiary lead by PartyGaming & WSOP bosses

Anyone notice this yet? I think this is another strong sign that Harrah's Enternainment is really preparing their move to the online gambling sector.

Harrah's formed a subsidiary company Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment, Inc, and put former PartyGaming man Mitch Garber as its CEO and WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Polack as President.

With the name of the company and the people heading it, what do you think they are aiming for? This is in line with Harrah's lobbying for Frank's anti-UIGEA bill.

Update: Las Vegas Review Journal has more to say on the subject. Harrah's will develop a free poker site by using the World Series of Poker-brand, which can operate in United States. The free site will position the company so that it can quickly capitalize on the market when poker is once again available online to the general public in US.

The site free site could be integrated with the Total Rewards program and with the large tournament at the Rio, Loveman said.

“There are lots of ways to make it meaningful even though it wouldn’t be a rake (real money) poker game,” he said. “Then in the event that others are successful in liberalizing online poker here, then we’d have an infrastructure ready to go.”
Update: Montreal Gazette says the new subsidiary will be based in Montreal. The Montreal office is expected to grow from its current staff of 10 to hundreds of workers in customer service and Web design.
