    Default Goal for the month

I am going to try and play 40 hours of poker this month. It isn't much and there have been many months in the past where I have played more. But I haven't been playing lately because of problems and work. So I am trying to get back on it. I've had months where I played over 130 hours before. But it has been a while.

So far this month, I have only played 6.4 hours. That is basically nothing. So I am going to commit to making it to 40 hours. That's an average of an hour and 36 minutes a day. It is certainly possible. I'll probably do 3 hour sessions so I can take days off -- I'm not in the mood to play every day right now.

    Current:
    Ring: 6.2 hours
    Tournament: 0.2 hours

It's a dumb goal but it is one I will stick to. It also gives me time to turn around my $10NL results. Those haven't really improved since I posted about them a long time ago because I haven't been playing.

Hey Frob, there's no such thing as a "dumb goal" - if it's something you want to do and will enjoy accomplishing then more power to you. I think it's good to set small goals like this one, because it shows your discipline. There are some people out there that don't set goals at all, or else they set unrealistic ones and go broke trying to reach them. I think your system is going to work just fine for you. Good luck!

I went and put in a couple hours at Absolute today. I haven't played there in a while and wanted to get a hundred raked hands in so I could qualify for the $10,000 freeroll (http://www.rakeback.com/promotions/a...ampaign=UBAP10).

I played in 171 hands that were raked out of 319 total hands. So I think that was enough. I don't know if I actually had to contribute money to the pot for them to count though. I wasn't able to register for the freeroll yet. But no one else is registered so I don't think that means anything. I will probably do some more time on AP in the upcoming days just to make sure.

I went and played on Full Tilt for a while too. Mostly because they were offering triple points. I only played $2nl though because I have very little money on there.

I ran hotter than a tin-roofed outhouse in July. For most of the session it was over 40BB/100 but then I ran into a dry spell for a while at the end. I didn't lose much but I never really won anything and finished it out with a 28BB/100 end result... for almost 400 hands. Not too bad. I actually started out poorly. I bought in with $1 on two different tables... and promptly was down to $0.13 on one of those tables when I ran the Ace-high flush into a boat. But, without rebuying, I brought that stack up to $3.something before I left. Crazy hot... what can I say.

I wasn't even playing well. I played horribly but just couldn't lose. I'm not proud of the session but I sure enjoyed it.

That makes 4.8 hours today (since the original post). And puts me under 29 hours for the rest of the month. Since I know there will be days I won't play, this is a good thing.

Played horrible and just couldn't lose... hmm... yep, that sounds about right for a typical Full Tilt game LOL Just kiddin'

Sounds like you did real well on your first run... congrats! GL on the rest of the month.

40-50 hours monthly is typically my amount of play for the ring games. I play pretty much every day though so it's not that much of an average.

I am not doing bad. I am almost exactly where I should be to reach my goal. I have been playing mostly ring games and not tournaments. I should play a couple tournaments in the next week -- just because they will add a couple hours.

    Ring: 21.2 hours
    Tournament: 1.9 hours
    Total: 23.1 hours

That means I need to play about 1 hour 25 minutes a day for the rest of the month. That is less than when I started so I am a little bit ahead. I'm posting some small wins too. But I am playing micro stakes so the small wins are decent enough to keep me happy. I am running fairly well and only had a couple sessions go pear shaped on me.

    Woohoo, I am done.

    Ring: 34.8
    Tournament: 13.7
    Total: 48.5

That's real hours too... not table hours (70.8). The real sick thing is the amount I have played since my last update. It is 4 days later and I have played 25.4 hours. That's over 6 hours a day. This much free time is not good for me. Playing like that is why I took a break from poker in the first place.

Oh my... yeah I think we need to put a remote controlled cut off switch on all of frob's computer equipment so we can shut him down after "x" amount of time lol

I guess I shouldn't mention that the 1.5 hours playing the PTOTW doesn't count because there was no buy-in?

I don't count freerolls in those numbers. Only something where I put money down.

Lol, so you spent 1.5 hours out in crazy hot weather and don't even count it towards time spent playing?!?

    I love it!

Here are the final results for the end of the month:

Ring Games: 63.2 hours (96.7 table hours)
Tournaments: 29.3 hours (39.2 table hours)
Totals: 92.5 hours (135.9 table hours)

That doesn't count the PTOTW but it does count the time spent playing the Absolute Poker freeroll.

When it comes down to dollars and not hours, I did pretty well this month. It was one of my higher earning ring game months (although not when compared to me playing $25NL exclusively... since I was playing $10NL and under the entire time). And it was, by far, my most productive tournament month.

    I'm pretty happy.

I am not setting a time goal for July. I probably won't play at all one week. I've got someone coming into town and I plan on focusing my attention on her. She'll be pretty unhappy if poker wins out.
