Good Poker Books to check out?

With the abundance of poker strategy books that are coming out from a number of different professionals has anyone found any specific ones to be helpful. Of course I've picked up Bronson senior's Super System, any other ones that maybe handy?

One book that I always recommend to low limit players is Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big With Expert Play by Miller, Sklansky and Malmuth. It is filled with sound advice for the current loose online games.

For tournament play your best bet might be to read the Harrington on Hold'em series:
Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments, Vol. 1: Strategic Play
Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments, Vol. 2: Endgame
Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategies for No Limit Tournaments, Vol. 3: The Workbook

Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker by Stewart Reuben and Bob Ciaffone is also considered a bible by some pl and nl cash players. Do not buy in at a higher limit cash table without reading this.

Other suggestions? I should be ashamed, but I have not had the time to touch any other poker books released within a year.

Nice list you got there mr mollila - pretty much my recommendations!

Reuben & Ciaffone's book is defenetly one of the best books for live nl cashgames and the Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller & Co for small (and defenetly not only for small) fixed games.

I have read only the two first part of Harrington's tournament books, and again, these are propably the best tournaments books written so far. Can't say anything about the third part, but heard that it's not as good as the two first ones.

Also really really good tournament book is D.R.Sherer's Poker Tournament Tactics for Winners.

And then there's of course the big classic: Sklansky & Malmuth - Holdem Poker for Advanced Players. Not the best book I know, but really good anyway and if you read reviews from net, there are many people who think that this the real bible of texas holdem.

I think Super System (1 & 2) deserves to be mentioned here too. They are superb. I have not read the new Theory of No Limit Hold'em yet, but I can imagine it would be at least useful. If someone has read it, please tell us what was it like

This one looks really good especially for most players in the arena. I will definately check it out. You guys should do some sort of Amazon affiliate with poker books to make some extra cash .

Agreed on the harrington on hold'em books for tournaments.. another one that I like is phil gordons little green book of poker - If you've ever read an O'rileys book for computers, its like that except for poker.

I personally like Brunson's Super System 2 and a new one that has hit the stands by Lou Kreiger and Sheree Bykofsky called "Secrets the Pros Won't Tell You About Winning Hold'em Poker". He also put out another very interesting book called "Internet Poker".

Success will not come from a book. The book is just a guide to get you going and keep you improving. The greats will tell you that you only get great by playing.

Reading books is a great way to improve your poker knowledge, although playing experience is of course necessary. You'll get great faster with learning material.
