    Default Teaching at the table

    Why do people do it? Why do they try and teach at the table? It doesn't make any sense to me.

    Does it make them feel smart or important? Do they really think everyone else is impressed by their ability?

    It gets worse when the people offering "lessons" on play tend to be bad players. Just today there was a person who ended up calling a bluff-shove when they hit a flush on the end. It was a trivially easy call and doesn't demonstrate any skill. The bluff-shove was really bad because there wasn't' any way it was going to work and the hand had value at showdown if they other person missed. It was also many times the size of the pot.

    Anyway, the person with the flush starts berating the fish that shoved. They start explaining what their bets meant and everything else. Not like anyone cared. But they made the fish feel completely retarded. You can guess how long they hung around after that hand.

    They were gone two hands later.

    I don't understand why you would find a player that is really bad and is giving you money and would take the time to chase them away from the table. There's never a reason to be talking about strategy or skill level at the table. It's in bad taste and it's bad for the game.

    {is frustrated that one of his favorite fish -- that he had position on -- was chased away by a retard who thought he would look important by pointing out how bad the fish played}
    I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

    If anything, I give anti-lessons at the table.

    For example, we had a guy raising 8xBB every single hand. And he was calling reraises fairly light too. He was tilting pretty hard. He did this maybe a dozen times before I had a hand.

    I ended up limping UTG with QQ... of course he makes it 8xBB to go... and it folds back to me. I shove (which was maybe 85xBB since that is all the dork had left in his stack). Yep, the infamous limp-shove... one of the worst moves in poker. LOL

    The idiot called with A-To and I flopped a set with my Qs. And he donated his entire stack to me.

    One of the other players commented that it was a good play. My response was, "I just got lucky. I would have done that with almost anything. That guy was starting to tick me off. I just happened to get QQ that hand."

    That comment is almost 100% untrue. I did open my reraising range but I'm certainly not doing that with Q-Jo or "almost anything." And I wasn't doing it because I was emotionally upset. I was taking advantage of the other player's tilt by using his over-bets and over-calls to my advantage. But that is not the lesson I want people to learn.

    I want them to learn that you need to stand up to bullies and that you will be rewarded if you do. And that you can do it with almost anything. I want them to learn that I am a player that can become upset with others and will let that effect my play.

    I want to teach subtle anti-lessons. I want them playing worse. Well... at least worse than I play.

    ^ That.

    On another note, it is the stupidest people that give advice. Why the hell would you tip someone on how to play better, hence making it that tiny bit harder to take his money away.
    Limit poker is a science, but no-limit is an art. In limit you are shooting at a target. In no-limit, the target comes alive and shoots back at you.
