Default $Freeroll NL HE: Dealt AK first hand and moved all in

The Weekly Depositors freeroll at TITAN, I'd never played here before there was a 1k prize pool 2000 players top 200 paid.

Anyway, first hand I'm dealt AK and the guy UTG directly to my left shoves.
What is the right thing to do here?

If they were suited i'd have done the same. If not i'd have probably folded as you'd be a slight underdog to any pair. Plus the chances are he'd have either a pair of Aces or Kings to shove so early for so little return. Which would make you a big underdog no matter what two cards you had.

easy fold! you don't want to stack off with AK on the 1st level. only call with AA and maybe KK in that situation.
as long as you have a healthy stack then you should never stack off with AK.

I'd probably call here as its a freeroll an the guy could just be pushing anything. like another poster said its highly unlikey he's pushing AA or KK in that spot.

if id bought into the tourney however i'd probably just fold.

I once played a super-micro tournament. The buy-in was 10c if I recall. And on the very first hand I had AA. Six of the eight other people on the table shoved all-in (or called). Of course I called too. I ended up losing to some garbage hand that hit two pair.

But I still would call with AA there every single time. I don't know if I could do it with AK or KK though. I might have to let those ones go and count on my skill to compensate for passing on the pot when I probably had the best hand.
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

i think you could go either way with it. depends if you wanna risk ur stack as in freerolls someone always goes all in on the first hand to try an doouble up. i have seen it many times. so what i would factor in is who is gonna hit me or him. and as was stated in another reply it is a freeroll even if he gets lucky you didnt lose anything.

I would snap that off faster than he could turn his AA over in triumph. AK QQ KK and AA are always to be felted on the first hand of freerolls preflop. Always.
