Default Going to play another of the 5FTP $5k tournaments today

I jumped in one yesterday and managed to bust out in 3 hands.

I'm going to hop into the one that starts at 16:05 today. And see what I can do in it. I'm not expecting a whole lot from it but it will be fun.

There are over 10,000 people registered right now. And there will probably be a bunch more when it starts. And there is late registration too. So the final number can be huge. The largest tournament I've ever placed in had 12,000. It was one of the PokerStars freerolls that gave a ticket to the top 99 or whatever though. Which is a different thing.

Anyway, this will be cool. I don't know if I'll end up going deep but I am going to try.

I am still in it but very, very card dead. And, as my luck would have it, I have a RB player right here on my right. At least I have position on them.

16,270 total people in and just about half of them already knocked out when the late registration closed.

Out in 1,950th place... for a $0.30 win. Which sucks but I got incredibly unlucky in a hand and was crippled.

    120/240 Ante 25 -- 9 handed

    MP2: raisenation (8,867)
    MP3: DenGladeIdiot (2,574)
    CO: Pelican444 (6,989)
    Button: frob2600 (7,215)
    SB: HoosierLuke (2,957)
    BB: mjp516 (5,970)
    UTG: luckieme8 (5,348)
    UTG+1: Taxi3315 (9,540)
    MP1: OlegKh (13,920)

    frob2600: K K

    Pre-Flop: (t585): luckieme8 raises to 720, 3 folds, DenGladeIdiot calls 720, 1 fold, frob2600 raises to 3250, 2 folds, luckieme8 calls 2530, DenGladeIdiot calls 1829 (all-in).

    Flop: (t9634): 4 2 4

    luckieme8 bets 2073 (all-in), frob2600 calls 2073.

    luckieme8 shows J K
    DenGladeIdiot shows Q T
    frob2600 shows K K

    Turn & River: (t13780): 4 2 4 5 9

And luckieme8 wins with his K-high flush. I was left with 1,867 and tried my best to get it back but never managed to fully recover. Busted out only 14 hands later. It isn't much consolation that luckieme8 managed to blow all those chips and get knocked out only 18 hands after I was. But I guess that is to be expected.

Edit: I was 95.1% to win the side pot and 90.9% to scoop both. Nothing like misusing my odds calculator.

I do like a huge tournament. I played an $11 30,000 player tournament once on pokerstars where i finished 20th. I should have been pleased with this but i had the eventual winner drawing to runner runner for his tournament life and he went on to win over $29,000.

    My hand QQ
    His hand AT

    Board 6QT T T

All the money went in pre flop and i had him covered as i was in 1st or 2nd place at the time so my $600 prize money felt more like a loss.

However there is still great satisfaction in going deep in a huge tournament which lasts for many many hours (i was playing for over 8 hours just to finish 20th). Its a great test of disapline and stamina.
