Since I wasn't invited, I guess I'll just have to bug every1 for the password.

Isn't that what you're supposed to do when you're not invited?

And it begins. While playing $10NL tonight (I played a bit today despite saying I'd take a break lol... but I didn't really have any "real sessions" by any means... I got bored while I was watching some other people play online) the following occurred...

    2x_Rockets (Observer): hey dew
    Dew12109: no
    2x_Rockets (Observer): DEW12109
    2x_Rockets (Observer): hey
    2x_Rockets (Observer): Yo DEW
Dew12109: I'm not giving you the password
    2x_Rockets (Observer): ahhh be nice
    2x_Rockets (Observer): for once lol
Dew12109: I am. I'm not leading you on.
    Dew12109: The answer is "no"

He actually realized I wasn't going to budge and stopped there. I was somewhat impressed... sort of.

Great game everyone. I got really lucky with my Q-T hand and managed to stay alive until the money. And then eventually landed heads up with gamer -- who had a 12.5-1 chip lead at the time. I got some really lucky flops... and then ran well until the end. If I hadn't gotten very lucky at several points during this game, I wouldn't have won. That is for sure.

i haven't played on FTP for long so i am still learning my way around. sometimes you can easily tell if a player is siting out but i just now realized all we have to do is open up the hand history and there it is.

you guys probably already knew this, i'm always the last to know.
this is very useful information in a super turbo or on the bubble in any tournament.

I think the lowest point was 1070-12380 or about 11.6-1 in your favor. I called it 12.5 to one at the time... in my head.

The points are updated. You posted that while I was putting together the post. I am not able to directly copy from the spreadsheet program into here... so I need to type that up manually.

That last hand... I don't think either of us get away from that... unless I call on the flop. You might be able to fold the 8s and straight draw, once I bet the Ace on the turn. But on the flop... you're not folding and neither am I.

If I knew your cards: I was a 53.5-46.5 favorite. Basically a flip. But if you had a top pair hand... it was closer to 60-40. A made straight... and I was in trouble. And a set was also bad for me. The set makes me 40-60. T-9... the worst hand is 35-65. The other straights are closer to 60-40 and even. If you had two pair... it was still a very close flip. Basically, I was willing to flip in that spot against the range of hands I thought you might have. And that doesn't include worse flush draws or overs. If I lost, I had to rebuild. But I wasn't out. And if I won... I won the tournament.

I don't think so either. I thought I had the best hand, and if not, I had a lot of draws to win/tie. I couldn't put you on 8 10, and at best I put you on a 7 and were trying to get my off my hand, and at worse a 5 or a 10 and were being a bully.

I actually ran the hand in a hand calculator and was surprised to see the results:

    Win%
    Tie%

    Frob: A 5 72.40% (2.14%)
    Gamer: 8 5 25.46% (2.14%)
    (not surprised their)

    Flop: 8 7 6

    Frob: A 5 43.67% (19.70%)
    Gamer:8 5 36.67% (19.70%)
(I was surprised here. I thought I might have a few percentage points on frob, but I knew it was still a coin flip. Well, almost.)

Yeah, same numbers I get (except mine include the tie equity in them).

It was very close. I can blame 6-max on that play. There are a bunch of articles where they discuss the merits of playing hands like the one I had very strongly (even to the point of all-in) on the flop. Mainly because you have a bunch of fold equity and even if you get called... or otherwise end up all-in... you're rarely that far behind.

Where did you read that article? Maybe I should start reading up on my poker.

6 Max fundamentals for SSNL players

    Combo Draws

Another thing which I think is standard to most people but may not, is combo draws.

Hands where you have say 13-15 outs on the flop should be taken to the felt.

    http://www.pokerhand.org/?578686

Here is an example of properly playing a combo draw. Same goes with open ended straight and flush draws. Play these hands strong and very fast. There is a ton of fold equity as well as getting money in being a 50/50 if they do decide to take their hand to the felt with you.

Best case scenario for the hand I played above is that everyone folds. Making them fold in spots like this is what makes playing combo draws this way profitable. You don’t profit by them calling a 50/50 shot. You profit making them fold.
Of course, I didn't have fold equity at that point anymore... but the pot was laying me fantastic odds for a 50/50 shot.
