Default Mike Matusow's book: Check Raising the...

Just a heads up for people

I'm currently reading Mike Matusow's autobiography and find myself enthralled with every sentence. But if you've not the time currently, bear in mind that it's the ideal long journey read, as it will keep you gripped from cover to cover. Admittedly, I wasn't particularly a fan of Matusow before reading it, but now I really empathise with him and wish him the very best. He's a great guy for sure and if you were in any doubt as to why he has so many fans, his book will set the record straight for you.

It is a partly about fighting to succeed at poker and fighting to win control of something which has even more variance: his very mind & its demons. And it is the always present element of self destruction, fear, doubts, mistakes and danger which, when mixed with a volatile rock and roll lifestyle, makes the story so compelling.

It almost doesn't matter how his story is told, the mere fact that it is told is almost reason enough to become absolutely engrossed in this book - as you'll no doubt find.

I rate it as highly as "The Man With The Shades", arguably one of the best poker biographies - only Mike's is an autobiography; regardless, all of you who haven't already read either, you should check them out a.s.a.p.

I almost bought this the other day, but it was too pricey at the retail store. I've heard very little bad and a ton of good about this book.

Sometimes he gives away free copies of his book if you call him on his show the mouth piece on cardplayer.com

It's $16.xx on amazon. Not too bad at the moment. If I find something else I want so I qualify for $25 free shipping, I'll probably get it soon.

he's a little bit of a whiner. but the more i see him on tv, i think he's a good guy who lets his emotions get the better of him.

Well, I just broke down and bought it. Found another book I had been wanting, so I spent $27 on amazon. I had been looking at the book for so long, so a bit of stiff drink just convinced me to go buy it . Since I seem to have a ton of time on my hands, as soon as it ships, I'll probably read through it pretty quickly. If I'm disappointed in it though, I'm blaming you whitenight.

Ok Dew: after much deliberation, you now have my express & wholly unfettered authorization to blame me as charged, in the most unlikely event of your suffering any dissatisfaction with said book.

Joking aside, it'd definitely be nice to know that you, and anyone else. liked the book as much as I did.
