Profile Picture Change?

I tried to change my profile picture tonight/avatar. It seems to have uploaded for my profile, but not the avatar part. It tells me everytime I click "save changes" that the upload failed. I tried putting the picture on photobucket and just uploading it directly. It is 100x75 pixels and something like 4kb, so it meets the requirements stated on the site, but still won't upload. Am I missing something, or is this another glitchy thing?

I think that happened to me when I first put up my profile pic and avatar. I'm not positive, but I thought I just waited until the next day and it let me upload then. Must be a glitch.

So my profile has the pic I was trying to put on here... but my avatar in my posts fails at life. Sad day.

I can't seam to replicate this problem. I just uploaded an avatar then changed it and no problems. Can you link us to the picture you are trying to upload or just email it to our support? If you email it, make sure you let the support know why you are sending the picture otherwise they will just discard the attachment as being potential harmful.

Your avatar, upon being uploaded, must be only 50kb and no bigger than 100 x 100. Make sure your picture meets both these requirements first

if they let you edit your profile, they'll have to let everyone edit your profile. and we don't want that

It's 100x75 and is 3.59KB.

I've tried uploading it the link route, and I've tried uploading it from file from my hard drive. Everytime I try, it states there was an error during uploading. I use firefox, so I'm not sure if that could be the reason. But if you notice when you visit my profile, it actually shows the image I'm trying to make. But then my avatar is still unchanged. I've noticed this on clearwheezy's account too. He has the same thing going where a different picture shown in his profile than his avatar. In fact, when you visit the profile you can see both pictures side by side as one is located in "mini statistics" and the other is by his username.

Ok, we are back. Had to take a day off to celebrate the Estonian independence day.

dew12109: I can change your avatar for you myself, but that won't actually solve the problem, just fix it temporarily. Another option would be that I would change your password so I could login as you and hopefully be able to replicate the error. I would change it back afterwards and at no time do we actually see your real password, just a hash of it so don't fret, its safe. I just need to make sure thats ok with you before I do it. Also, and I am just making sure here, are you sure you are using the "Edit Avatar" link in your user CP? I am sure you are but I just want to make sure.

liladypokerpro: Thats pretty strange. Can I do the same password thing for you as for dew12109?

Edit: Realizing now that you guys are probably at minimum 7 hours behind us and its nearly quitting time this Friday, don't expect anything to be done until Monday but first thing Monday, granted with your permission, will be to resolve these strange problems.

Yeah, I'm cool with whatever you want to do to. I've gotten really curious as to what is causing the issue. I've never seen something like this before. I just went through the steps again, and it's no longer telling me "failed" but it's not changing anything either lol.

Mine seems to be working now, so thanks for whatever was done... if anything... might have just been a bug *shrug* Who knows...

Ok our dearest dew12109, I have no idea. I changed your password and logged in as you, then I just went to User CP->edit avatar->upload image from your computer and uploaded the image that you had on photobucket there. I clicked submit and that was that, bingo bango.

If you are still having the problem maybe you can send me a screenshot of the error and whatnot? Anyway, your password as been reset to what it was before I changed it and your avatar is now also changed. Super sweet.

Well, thanks... those are the steps I took too and it just refused to work for me. Oh well. Glad things are changed now. If I try to change it again, we'll see how it goes.

Roger that. Hopefully I will have some free time to upgrade to the latest minor version of vB so some of these strange bugs *should* disappear. Anyway, new avatars for the win!
