Default FAO online poker players - right2bet petition

Hey, i'm really sorry to post a link straight off the bat, but if you like online poker - and i think it's safe to assume that a fair portion of those reading this forum do! - then hopefully you'll be interested in this:

    http://www.right2bet.net

It's an online petition to lobby the EU to introduce proper freedom of choice for online gamblers. At the moment, EU Member States can and regularly do stop both punters and bookies/casinos from crossing borders. So, online casinos can find it difficult to market to people in certain countries. Likewise, punters from those countries can't use casinos from other countries etc. This also affects people who like to bet on sports, use lotteries and so on. If we had a proper right to bet anywhere in the EU, we'd have access to more casinos, better odds, bigger pots, more other users etc. In short, it's a pretty big deal!

It's unfair because a free internal market exists in most areas within the EU (or it's supposed to, at least) but the EU is unwilling to enforce it with gambling. Why? Because some of its Member States enjoy lining their pockets with the proceeds of state monopolies! It stinks, and if this petition gets to 1million then they will be forced to take another look at their rules.

    Cheers!
    Jon

Hope it works out for you over there Jon. As you're probably aware, we've got plenty of problems with internet poker here in the States at the moment.

Yep, my girlfriend is actually from the US so I know all about the problems you're having in the states lol. She is often at pains to remind me when I whinge about the state of affairs over here

Maybe the downtrodden masses of the North Atlantic will triumph some day, who knows. In the meantime you can sign our petition if you want, by selecting "Other" as your country!

    Thanks mate

Yowzers - and for anyone who doubted whether or not these EU laws make a difference to your online gambling experience... http://bit.ly/1iAoxj yikes! Look at the disparity in odds between those gambling monopolies! Also here's an article showing the odds for the Liverpool v Man City premiership game: http://bit.ly/57PUt6

The Right2Bet petition is gaining significant traction at the moment amongst gambling fans, operators and also in different EU Member States. They even have a tool where you can lobby your MEP directly. As soon as their petition reaches 1million, it will go before the EU Commission so I'd encourage everyone to go to www.right2bet.net to add your name to the petition now!
