    Default 10NL: AKo against fish

This was a fun little hand.

    0: MP1: $9.85
    1: MP2: $8.28
    2: MP3: $9.48
    3: CO: $11.35
    4: Hero (BTN): $10.09
    5: SB: $9.90

    6: BB: $1.85
    7: UTG: $3.80
    8: UTG+1: $13.23

    Saw Flop
    Saw River

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is Button with A K
    3 folds, MP2 raises to $0.20, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.20, SB calls $0.15, 1 fold

    Flop: ($0.70) A 2 2
    SB checks, MP2 raises to $0.65, Hero raises $1.95,, 1 fold, MP2 calls $1.30

Against this player, with my hand as under-represented as it is, I am basically committed on this flop. The odds of his having a 2 are very low and I worry only about A-A. And I can't worry about that too much because it's extremely unlikely. I raise here expecting to get him committed with a weaker Ace like A-Q or A-J. If he folds because he has a pair (like T-T), I wasn't getting much more anyway.

    Turn: ($4.60) 6
    MP2 checks, Hero bets $4.60, MP2 calls $4.60

Great turn for my hand. I bet straight out for value.

    River: ($13.80) 3
    MP2 bets $1.53 (all-in), Hero calls $1.53

Not like I am ever folding this hand on that river with 10-1 odds.

    Final pot: ($16.86)

    Hero shows: A K
    MP2 shows: A 9

    Hero wins $16.02 ($0.84 Rake)

Oops! He slightly over-values that hand. I have to admit, I didn't expect a kicker that low. lol
I get no respect. . . when I move all-in, people from other tables call.

You know he didn't have pocket Aces because why bet on the flop or reraise when you know you have your opponent beat ?I mean if it was me I would slow play it big time.Anyway A9 vs AK and he bets that much with a low kicker? Not a good idea on his part.I would have put him on AQ or AJ .But A9 ? Its just stupid to bet so much with a kicker like that .Nice hand by the way.

I've had AK vs AA about 15 times today, so I might have just folded flop.

At these 10NL tables, players will do the craziest things with A-weak on A-low-low boards. Today, someone bet pot all the way, and called my river raise, with A-T on an A-3-3-x-x board. I had 3-3 (poker is easy when you flop quads).

So I do expect players to over-commit with weaker A-x type hands on this board often enough that the few times I run into AA will more than be made up from the profits when the player has A-Q or worse.

Granted, if someone else flops quads on me when I have AK on these boards... that could be pretty ugly too. But that's poker. It's a lot harder for them to hold AA or quads than all the A-x combinations they might go broke with.

I was kidding. You could shove on this flop and get called with any ace I'm sure, although betting down is better like you did, since you might get weird value from a lower pocket pair or a flush draw. I would have raised more on the flop to set up a pot sized shove on the turn, or just overshoved the turn.
