Default I suffer from upswing tilt.

I think my upswing tilt is worse than my downswing tilt. I work my bankroll up to highest and then something clicks in my brain that I am invincible. I then start my upswing tilt and end up losing money back to my usual bankroll, which in turn makes me downswing tilt.

It's a vicious cycle. Does anyone else suffer from upswing tilt? If so, have you found a method to stop it?

-High my name is Goooool, and I have upswing tilt.

I don't have the problem of going through upswings. So no, I don't ever upswing tilt.

Default Thanks for the joke reply.

I guess I was looking to see if you just continue playing on a hot streak or eventually take a break when you are up so many buy ins.

Guess I will just get sarcastic answers.

Any semi-logical person can figure out what they should do if they have this problem. If you play bad when you're on a hot streak, you should quit. If you always play good, you should keep playing until you don't feel like it anymore. Don't tell me you didn't think of this already.

Yes I have this problem as well.

My method to stop this problem is every time I am down one buy-in from my peak, I will "sit out" on all cash tables, take a walk around and then deciide if I really want to play anymore. Sometimes I sit down again somewhat refreshed and other times I realize that I cant play my best anymore, so I quit.

Sometimes I never make any money and sit out when I'm down one buy-in. Sometimes I go up 4-5 buy-ins and leave when i'm down 1 buy-in from my peak. Sometimes I leave at my peak because I just had enough and I dont want to always go out on a losing note.

I have found this to work very well. For the mass multi-tablers, you could alter it by sitting out after being down 2 or even 3 buy-ins, so that your not stopping and starting too much.

I'd recommend sitting back and smoking a fatty, and then you may have forgot whether you were up or down.

I'm just a pot smoker, not a pole smoker.

    Give it a try.

As a side benefit, it allows you to play drunk without waking up the next day wondering WTF did I do to my bankroll.

Of course, when drunk, you play a "different" form of poker. This can work for a while, as other players may have stats on how to play you. Anyway, you either lose one buy-in or make a few buy-ins, without giving them all back and tilting off even more.

I know exactly what gooool is talking about. I had the a similar thing happen to me around a year ago. For about 3-4 months, I was making insane cash during the time. I hit all draws, bluffs worked, etc... which lead to me thinking I was invincible. I didn't lose my money though, but after that crazy upswing I hit a hard downswing, and quite honestly, that was probably the best thing that ever happened to me during my poker "career". My feet landed back on the ground, and as a result of that, I looked into my game more than before. As a result, I have become a better player than I was back then.
Limit poker is a science, but no-limit is an art. In limit you are shooting at a target. In no-limit, the target comes alive and shoots back at you.
